Culottes? From the 1960's? I was either in 4th or 5th grade when these came about and I HAD to have them!

~I had to wear culottes in the 1980's because of a conservative school dress code. I thought it was cool that my mom made them(she isn't much of a sewer) but I didn't like wearing them. I'd consider wearing them again if I made western style ones like Barbara Stanwick wore in Big Valley.~

I wasn't around int he '60 but I remember my mom using the word a lot as I grew up. She still uses it today.

Are culottes similar to gauchos ?

Those are worn a lot around here in my corner of th world.

Are culottes like gauchos? I always thought they were more like skorts?

I wear tons of gauchos...they are so comfy. I have some dressy ones that I wear to work.

Very similar, in fact this was my thought as well.....culottes were a little more 'boxy' if that helps....
