I just want to cry
Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong this week. I got into a car accident on Wednesday...my fault. Doh! Then I come to find out that my last month's credit card payment was a day late because the due date was 6/15 and my auto-payment went in on 6/16 because 6/15 was a Sunday. I get my statement with a late charge and they bumped me from 5.9% to 24% interest. I called and got it all resolved but I still have to make the extra big minimum payment this month which is $250 more than usual. They will credit my account the amount of finance charges they charged me but still, what a pain. Then to top it all off through a lot of "murphy" visiting us the last 4 weeks we had to use our credit card and put $5000 on it. It was originially a 0 balance....not anymore. I feel absolutely sick to my stomache. It's not like we had to charge frivilous things. We had to have a bunch of work done on both cars, an unexpected trip home to parents that wasn't budgeted for and then my kids both had some issues that couldn't wait. To top it off my dog got sick and you know how much vets cost. I didn't go charge unneccessary stuff. Sometimes it feels like the whole world is against me. I am so depressed that all I want to do is stay in my room and cry. My husband doesn't understand why I get so discouraged. He is really laid back and takes everything in stride. Thank God! He can roll with the punches a lot better than I can. Of course, he doesn't pay the bills or work on the budget. He stays out of the finances by mutual agreement. He does follow the budget I set and he is in total support of Dave Ramsey's plan, it's just that I am the one staring at the bills coming in.
Please give me some encouraging words. I am at such a low point right now I don't know what to do. It is so hard to stay positive when everytime you take one step forward you slide back 3.

I am sending many, many virtual hugs your way.
Sometimes life sucks. I am sorry you are having a bad time of it now. From personal experience, though the worst thing you can do is lock yourself in your room and cry as you'll just get more and more depressed.
Do something for yourself. Take a nice long bubblebath, read a good book and re-watch your favorite DVDs (make sure they are cheerful themes). Eat a bar of chocolate. Meditate. Seduce your husband. Exercise to get those endomorphins or whatever they are called activated.
Instead of focussing on the negative sit down and review your accomplishments to date. You've paid off 75000 in debt!!!!! That is an incredible accomplishment. Be glad that the credit card company backed down. Get your emergency fund built back up, then focus on your debt snowball and you WILL get that $5000 paid off. You WILL. you WILL.

I'm very sorry that this has happened - but look at it like this - imagine if you had not paid off SO MUCH debt, and did not have the EF you have - how much worse would this week have been?
The Dog being sick unexpectedly is, IMO, an EF tapping event - so use it, and be glad you've done SO WELL so far!If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Sorry things have been bumpy. The weeks about over & a new one's about to begin. Lots of opportunities for good stuff. Hang in and ask for an extra hug or two from that laid back guy of yours.

Thanks for all of your encouraging words! It helps a lot!! After I submitted this thread I got a call from my employer. It seems that the transfer request I put in came through and I am getting the school I asked for!!!! Yippee!!! That will cut my mileage down from 14 miles a day to 4 miles a day and I will be in a much better school. Your good vibes are working! keep them coming!!!
I also called my Mom and cried to her. I usually avoid this because I don't want het to worry about me. My Mom always comes through with what I need to hear. I am truly lucky to have her in my life. I hope I can be there for my kids as they grow up and face life's challenges.
I keep telling myself that we have come soooo far from where we were just a year ago. It just gets hard when you have to slam on the brakes and the airbags deploy!! You feel like you have been turned upside down and are now facing on-coming traffic on the highway.
Thanks so much for all your support!!
