Default Wow. Milk price. I almost had a heartattack.

$4.59/gallon I need about 4 gallons per week. I guess we will be cutting down.

If you can get away with using powdered milk, I'd look into that. Maybe mixing the two?

It's only $3.56 here, and we use about 2 gal a week.

Do you do a lot of cooking with it, or do you & your family drink/use a lot (like for cereal)?

We've been really lucky here. Our grocery stores are "warring" and they are using milk as, basically, a loss leader. I can still usually find it for under $3 a gallon.

We have been going through about a gallon a day, so we need to cut back because it is taking a huge chunk out of my grocery budget!

    That is strange.
Our milk prices have gone down.
We where paying $3.79 a gallon now its $3.30 a gallon.

I did read somewhere that milk would be going up to over $4.00 a gallon.

Sad when milk can be more expensive then gas.

A couple of weeks ago, Walgreens had milk on sale for 3.09. I was anticipating a big increase in milk prices so I stocked up on gallons of milk and froze them. I had a coupon to get a 1/2 gallon of milk for .99 cents yesterday and noticed milk prices had jumped to about 4.19.

Insane...just insande! I've never done the powdered milk thing, however, I think I'll be looking into mixing it soon. Prob. if I make some and add it into the jug when there is some "headspace", they'll never know the diff, right?

Ours is still $2.50/gallon at the commissary. At the regular grocery stores it's been hovering at $4/gallon for some time.

What gets me is the stupid pundits on tv comparing milk being $4/gallon to gas being $4/gallon. It is NOT the same thing. I don't know anyone who goes through 20-30 gallons of milk every two weeks like they do gas

Ours is cheaper if you buy two at a time. Do they do that where you are? I bought two yesterday for $6.19 making it $3.10 a gallon. I've been doing that for so long I didn't even look at the single gallon price. I'll have to check.

I just got the walmart brand today, skim, for $3.25. I thought prices were supposed to be going down also.

I've added powdered milk to our gallon before when it's been about half full; nobody noticed, and I can't even taste the difference myself doing it that way. I did get though busted because I shook it up before I poured it and my husband got a little suspicious LOL.

I bought a gallon of milk Wednesday and paid $4.99 for it. I can't believe how much milk has went up.

I have found that it is worth my sams club membership just for milk. In the grocery stores here it is around $4.40 a gallon, at Sams it is $3.08. The 18 count eggs are 30 cents less then the 12 count eggs at the store. Bananas at sams are $1.25 for 3 pounds vs. 70 cents a pound at the grocery store.

I paid $3.85 for a gallon on Thursday. I never was much of a milk drinker until a year ago when my brother got me hooked on a iced coffee drink mix. Now I got thru 2 a week. If things ever get better, I'm hoping for a couple milk goats. I love goat milk.

I have been using the powdered milk I have. Since I have a lot of the stuff thought I might as well use it. Personally I love milk and can taste the difference in regular milk and brands. I do buy yogurt and block cheese. With baking or making pudding I can't tell the difference. Drinking powdered milk plain I definately can tell the difference. YYUUCK!!!! So I will heat up the powdered milk and add some instant coffee and have a cappucino.
Life can still be good. : )
