I am freaking out.....
I posted awhile back about my husband possibly getting laid off...he kept squeaking by every time, well, not this time. He came home Friday morning and gave me the bad news. He is looking at about a 2-3 month layoff. And of course, I started freaking out. He already has a plan set in motion until they call him back, and yes he can draw unemployment, but I just can not feel secure right now. My husband has many great abilities and there isn't a whole lot he can't do, but just the thought of him not having a regular job scares the bejeezus out of me. He assured me we won't lose the house, which is my biggest fear, he said he will work day and night to make sure that doesn't happen.
I want you all to know that if it weren't for this website and the things I have learned here, we would be in a lot bigger financial mess. I have stockplied, saved money and even paid off some old bills. So even though I am freaking out, I know that we will probably be ok. It's just a very scary thing right now. I also know that if I had to I could pick up another job part time. I am really trying to keep level headed about this, but it is really hard.
Wish me luck!When the world knocks you to your knees, remember that your in the perfect position to pray.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad news and I know how you feel. This happened to us about 5 years ago when DH and I first moved into this house we're in right now. He was laid off one week later and we had just spent all the money we had on the move. It was tough and money was really tight but we made it though. You've been frugal and your DH is willing to do what it takes so I think you two will be okay through all of this. Sending good thoughts and well wishes your way.
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Totally understand where you are right now!! My husband got *downsized* last October. It was very unexpected and we were not in a good financial position. I freaked out in a big way...cried,screamed and eventually got myself organised and started looking at where we were financially. He still isnt working and his unemployment is half of what his salary was. We are surviving and bills are getting paid. Even if only minimums at least they are paid. It looks like he will be going to school in the fall which means I have to keep this up for a year or maybe 2! This site has helped me and Im not as stressed as I was. Be thankful its only a few months and he is able to work at other things to help. Consider what will cost less...like gas as he wont be driving to work and his lunches out if he did that. I was amazed at how I was able to cover the bills I thought I couldnt!! You can do it!! Hang in there and dont panic too much...I know from experience it only made it worse when I did!! Good Luck!
