Default Bought a new car yesterday

I did not intend to buy a new car. I only intended to buy a used car because once you drive a new car off the lot it is considered used anyway.

I gave my other car to DS#2 and we gave DS#2's car to DS#1. I had no intentions of getting rid of my other car until DS#1 moved back home after leaving the marines and his car went kaput. I have been driving him back and forth every day to work and the gas is adding up. So, I sold him one of our vehicles. I let DS#2 pick which one he wanted and then I asked DS#1 if he wanted the other one and he said yes. Originally, DS#1 picked out the car DS#2 was driving. It started out as DS#1's car a few years ago before he left for the military. We could have made due without another vehicle, but I like not having to depend on anyone else. I have grown used to DS#2 driving himself to and from school and running errands for me when I need him to. He also takes DS#3 to school for me when I have to be at work early, so it has always worked for us to have 3 vehicles. So - DS#1 has the Ford Focus, DS#2 has the Nissan Altima, DH has his Dodge truck, and I have a brand new Ford Fusion.

The reason we bought a brand new one is because DH's employer partners with Ford and we got $7000 off the purchase price. It was only $2000 more than a used one with 31600 miles. The payments are only $20 more a month for a new one versus a used one. We also got a better percentage rate with a new versus a used one. This one only had 31 miles on it when I drove it off the lot so the warranty of course will last longer than the used one. I refuse to purchase an extended warranty after what we have been through with DH's truck. We are still paying for that mistake!! Never again! That was a hard lesson learned.

Anyway, the one I picked is fully loaded. I have to get used to answering my cell phone through the car speakers. That is odd. I do like being able to change the radio with the controls on the steering wheel. DH must like it too because he took MY car to work this morning instead of his truck ---- the truck that he doesn't like anyone to drive. LOL!!

I know this wasn't part of Dave Ramsey's pan, but I am happy with the choice I made.

    ENJOY : )

Sounds like you don't do much for you very often.....every once in a while you need to get something you want....and it sounds like you got a really good deal.

I work in the car business and I always say that as long as you are happy with your purchase that is the most important part of the deal. I hope you love your new car! What color is it???

Congrats! BUt, how in the world do you answer your phone through the speakers? Do you just push a certain button? That sounds soooo cool!

I just got a brand new one car about a month ago. For us it was a wise decision as well. I traded a paid for Suburban in for a Honda Accord. The payments aren't much more than what I was spending in gas!! I wanted a used one too, but Dh talked me into looking at the new ones, and with the 2.9 percent interest rate, mine was cheaper than a used car.
