Default Would you sell your wedding ring if you had to?

I just came back from the Gold Shop and sold some of my husbands jewelry - Class ring and old necklace. They have been sitting on the dresser for 10yrs so he asked my to sell them. $120 shocked. Not that we needed to sell them but hay, extra money is always a good thing, right?

Anyway it got my thinking, If you REALLY needed to sell something and your only valuable item was your wedding ring, would you sell it?

In the past, I have been to the point of not knowing where or when my next meal was and plus I had a child, so yes I probably would if I REALLY needed to.

Just curious on what others would say.

Since it would yield about $10K, I guess I'd have to, but I'd only sell it if I was completely out of other options.

My wedding band is a cheapy too, but if I had to, I would. I don't even wear it right now, anyway. I got it when I was pregnant with my first and I guess my fingers shrunk.

I would do anything I needed to do to make sure my kids were fed and had a roof over their head. If that meant I had to get rid of everything that meant something to me I would. However, I will say that I am not one who gets nostalgic about things.

No, I wouldn't. My wedding ring is a set that came from three very special people.

    1) The engagement ring is from my mom, the band not the diamond. It is the one my dad gave her.
    2) The diamond in my ring came from DH, obviously. I absolutely love it. It is not a common cut and has remarkable clarity.
    3) The wedding band itself was a gift from my dad. It is an emerald guard that goes around my engagement ring. When I got my engagement ring I wanted an emerald guard for it. My dad had the guard made for me and gave it to me. When DH and I married I wanted to continue wearing the guard w/my diamond so it became my wedding ring.

I would never part with any part of it.

Sounds like it is very beautiful. I don't think I would part with it either.

If it was actually worth something and we were in a dire situation then yes, I would.

But in reality it only cost around 60 bucks, I'd probably get a hefty three dollars for it, if that. Ditto on my engagement right, which cost 15. I didn't waste money to begin with, so there's really nothing to get out of it except the very personal meaning behind it. It isn't worth anything to anyone besides me, as it should be.
