What do you think is the best conversation piece in your home?
I would have to say the collection of pictures that I have on my wall. I took a bunch of pictures from old calendars and put them up on my wall. I do not like my walls plain looking.

By far
It's my kitchen cabinets. They used to be dark brown fake wood. I had them painted a bright white inside and out and then every door / drawer is a different neon color (lime green, cherry red, bright yellow, etc). The same color in a lighter tone was then rag rolled over each door / drawer. Everyone that's seen them loves them and comments, except for my brother who told me "You're never going to sell this home unless you sell it to a hippy!"

I have two conversation pieces, I think. My living/kitchen/dining area is one big room. And in it we have floor to ceiling windows that people always comment on.
The other thing is my rock wall in my kitchen. When they built the house, they built one wall out of stone. I hated it when we first moved in, but I've grown to love it now!

My 18 lb. orange cat. Everyone who comes into my house comments on him, falls in love with him, or both.

I have two:
The carpet - We have what we call "Brady Bunch Carpet." It's this 60's shag. What color, you ask? Well,it's a combination of Brown, orange, dark red, and mustard yellow.
My pets, particularly the cats - We have been blessed with really sweet animals. The cats will rub up against visitors or hop up on the sofa next to them. People are always amazed at how well behaved they are.

Well, I'd say the kitchen. The home was built in the late 1940's. The kitchen is galley style and still has all the same appliances. The tile floors, the light fixtures. It is as if you have stepped back in time. The bathroom is unfortunately the exact same way.lol. People always comment on it.

Lots! People always comment on:
My RED kitchen
Lots of artwork in coordinated arrangments
My paint colors
*Interesting* furniture
The back of the house is all windows.....looks out onto our acreage/pond
. We have a complete authentic sheep wagon, and buckboard and misc. interesting yard art
....and we're in the middle of a *subdivision*.

We have a lot of weird, random flea market finds for decoration. What seems to draw the most comments is three candle holders made of old hand grenades (sp?) Of course they're not live anymore or anything, heh. I'd never held a grenade before, and was shocked at how heavy they were.
I also have an old soda bottle collection, a lot of out-of-country sodas. And a collection of old acid and poison bottles (some with the contents still in.) That gets people talking.
Three of our four cats are hams and total attentionwhores, very vocal, I swear they think people who come here come here just to see them. So they are always part of the conversation.

I so want one of those gardens!
Umm, in my house it's probably the fireplace and the view out the windows. The fireplace is stone and the mantle is one continuous piece of stone, over 6ft long.~*Darlene*~

my heirloom furniture definitely.
I've got my great grandmother's dining table set, an antique secretary....
just something that most people don't expect from someone 'my age'
that and the fact that my dh has basically ripped out the entire mainfloor and redone it all in nice neutral shades. earthy tones and colours.
