Default Where do you buy pepper spray?

Unusual question, isn't it? My DS is riding the bike trail from Ohiopyle to Washington DC. I am a nervous wreck about it, and think it might be wise to pack some added protection. If anyone has any experience related to the bike trail, please LMK!
Bought my new oven 1/08 and loving it!

You can buy pepper spray at a hardware store, firearms store, even a supermarket, depending on your state laws. Pepper spray is also available for purchase online.

    Here's one I found on amazon.com

I purchased mine at the local gun shop. It is a triple action spray--a combination of o.c. spray, pepper spray, and a uv blue dye.

    It ran roughly 15$ish.

I would ask a local police officier and find out what size and type is legal to carry in your area......and you might want to have him sign up for some kind of class on how to use it. You can also check into bear spray, (if it can drop a bear it should work on a human, you may be able to pick up at your local hunting outfitters).

He's not doing this alone, is he? How old is he? I don't want to alarm you, but I live north of DC, and have lived in western MD, and bike and hiking trails are really popular places to rob people. There's been a rash of them in my specific area this summer, and they always work in pairs it seems. I read yesterday, a few days ago on a trail near me some poor guy was pistol whipped twice even after he handed over everything.

Pepper spray is just going to piss someone off. If he has to use it he's practically begging for some very painful retaliation from the inevitable other member of the team. His best defense is to stay aware and don't be alone.
