Do you participate in your county fair?

We have a small county fair. The kids are very big into 4H so we are there every day. This year we even pitched a tent for one night. We'll My kids did very well with the few static exibits they entered and are going to state fair with a couple. They also showed livestock and brought home about 20 trophies and plaques. This they did with having champion cattle, chickens, geese, ducks, my dd sewing talent, and showmanship trophies along with livestock judging wins. We are looking forward to taking the cattle to a couple of more fairs & shows that is the way we spend are vaccation. Although we will not be as lucky when the kids show their cattle at these places the kids still have fun and learn. So anyone else do fairs?

I grew up showing livestock and participating in the county fair. Mom would enter her canned and baked goods. My brothers and I showed cattle. Dad... hmmm, I guess dad ran us all around, loaded the cattle and visited with the other farmers. Oh and he entered some of the farm games...

I have some very fond memories of it all, but I remember how much hard work it was and how expensive it was. The prize money didn't even come close to offsetting the expense. I haven't entered anything in years, but I always go.

i used to show pigs in ffa.
i took part in the sewing. won several state trophies on that.
i also took part in public speaking in 4h and went to the state level. came in 4th there. was an alternate for nationals. but alas, didn't get to go.
i also grew things with hydroponics. but that's a story for a different thread! lol
i would love to become more involved with the fair again. i loved it!

I don't participate, but I do support it! I love to go see the livestock. And eat the food.

I grew up a city girl with a country heart. I would of loved to have done that. We were hoping at some time to take our goats to show but that doesn't look like it'll happen. Hope you and the kids have a great summer!

I alays did as a young girl youg adult when i still lived at home. I took sewing, art, photography, cooking, canning, vegetables! always loved taking my things and waiting most of the day to find out ribbon color. i just wish there was one like that around here.
