%$*&^&EMPIRE TODAY* more explatives*
How angry can I possibly be?
I called Empire Today last week, got a quote and ordered about $3,000 worth of flooring to be installed Saturday. They make you wait from 8 a - 6 p, telling me they will call before they leave. They called my house and my work to confirm on Friday, I double checked the address and phone # with them. Saturday comes and I wait and wait and wait, finally just before 5 I call, they insist that they couldn't reach me, the only # they had was work, and they couldn't find my house so I have to reschedule!!!!!
I was livid, and the people were so rude. I had all of my cabinets and appliance out on my front porch, cleared the entire room so they would have plenty of room to work. Even had my sink and the cabinet removed for them to work.
I cancelled my order, better get my deposit back, and immediately went to Home Depot, bought hardwood flooring for less than 1/2 what they were charging for laminate and dh and I started working on it. It's almost done, looks great, but this was something I really didn't want us to have to bust our butts doing ourselves. I have my foster license renewal this Thursday and I don't even know if I will have my kitchen back together by then!!!! Best laid plans....

We called them once and luckily, they don't come this far out of Chicago, so they wouldn't come to us. LUCKILY! Once we started to talk to people we knew, we heard nothing but bad things about them!
That stinks that it didn't work out, but at least you saved some cash and it wasn't too difficult to put in!

Sorry for the drama Kellie. Glad those jerks didn't get your money. How do these kind of rude obnoxious places stay in business? I know you'll be letting everyone you know just how bad they are.
Enjoy your new, nicer floor!~*Darlene*~

Sorry for all the hassle they put you through.
Thanks for post this information about them. I was wondering if they where a good company to do business with.
Now I know the answer is to stay away from them.

In my experience they are very expensive. We had them out once and they quoted us something like 1,200 to do a bedroom. I was able to hard ball my way down to 300. Won't call them again thats for sure.
I hope they refund your money.

Sorry they put you thru that. Hopefully you will finish in time. What a mess. See I am not patient I wouldve called at 8am, asking what time. They know that day what jobs and when im sure. what pains in the butt.
I too used them for all the carpet in the house. I got outrageous estimate and told them no. 3 times. Finally I called back and said I would give them a shot for less then their last offer. was less then half of original quote! They did great work, quick, put everything back, but still. Ugh

Well, at least you got a great looking floor at a less expensive cost!
I know you didn't want to to all that work so I hope you feel good about yourselves and the hard work you did.
Thanks for the warning on Empire! I would go to any websites I could find to complain about them. At least you can warn others and possibily take away some of their business. I check business reviews with the Better Business Bureau and other places on the `net before dealing with them and if I read a few bad reviews I don't hire them or buy that product. I belong to epinions, too and leave reviews there.

There are websites out there that have major complaints on that company. I was looking into carpet and did some type of search and found it. There were so many complaints, there is no way I will ever use them for anything. Wish I knew what the website was so I could repost it for you.

We had very good luck with them. They were pricey, but we figured we had a very specific timeline. I didn't even think to bulldog down the price......
