    Default Some People are Slobs

Earlier today I was at JCPenny's to take advantage of their girl's clothes that have been marked down to $2.97.

I had my dd8 with me and we were waiting in line to use a dressing room, and when one finally came available I opened the door and.......was absolutely disgusted by the condition of the room. There must have been at least 20 hangers laying on the floor along with clothes wadded up and thrown on the bench, or just thrown on the ground for the next person to possibly step on.

The store clerk happened to be walking by and was as friendly as could be said "oh, give me a second and I'll have this cleaned up for you." I started helping her hang up shirts, shorts, skirts etc...the whole time she was chipper and friendly. I was steaming inside.

Why do people do this? Do you think they do this at their own house? Or are they just so busy they cannot be bothered with hanging up an item they tried on? Do they think the clerks are there to pick up after them? I don't know, maybe this is a normal thing.

I was flabbergasted.....couldn't believe it....a bunch of slobs IMHO

A lot of people just don't care anymore.

Some have the attitude that they don't have to things like hanging clothes back on a hanger after you try them on.

I would sure hate to see how they live.

isn't it awful? drives me nuts too to find tissues in those rooms too. I mean, come on! what's so hard about taking your tissues out with you when you leave the changing room??

I agree with the above, decency in people and common courtesy are getting harder and harder to find. Changing rooms in stores, public restrooms, restaurants....it's all the same. I can not stand for people to leave a huge mess on the table when they leave a restaurant. There's no need in it. Just like the changing rooms. I know they don't do that at home. A lot of people nowadays just have that "don't care, it's not mine, oh well, that's what others are paid for" attitude and it stinks. A little kindness goes a long way.

Some people may have an attitude that it's not their job to clean up the mess since there are people paid to it.

I hate that! I never try on clothes anymore unless I HAVE to.. just because of that. You get girls that go in with arms full of clothing and walk away with 1-2 things to buy, c'mon!

The sale was nice though, I love JCP and Sales!

People are just lazy slobs. I can't imagine leaving a room w/o hanging the items back up and bringing them back out to the racks.

What bothers me too is that I need to clean it up. I would hate for anyone to think that it was me who left the dressing room in that condition.

I freely admit I'm a slob in my own home, but I would NEVER do that in a public place with things that didn't belong to me!

I do occasionally leave a mess when we go out to eat, but leave a bigger tip to cover any extra inconvenience.

This is what I call, "My mom will get it", so many people think that everyone else will clean up after them that they often forget that it really is someone's job to keep the store clean. My cousin learned this lesson when she worked at K-Mart, my aunt said that her room is so clean now, and she picks up after herself when she is at home.

It sucks for us as customers, but sometimes had a dual effect on others!!!

That sounds exactly like what my teenager would say. I am appalled at what she thinks is ok to do and I, myself, have stood outside of a changing room to hang up the clothes she tries on. If I didn't, she might be one of those who leaves them on the floor! I've made her hang up clothes in the store and she does such a crap job if it that we've had little fights over that very thing right there in the store.

Just want you to know that it's the person who did it's fault and I can assure you that not ALL parents or people are like that. They are, like you say, just careless slobs. My DD is one of them! My ex-husband was another. I've been working on DD for years, since she was little, but if I turn my back and said nothing..... omg! She'd live in clutter and filth without a care and spread it around just like Pigpen of the Peanuts gang.

I think it all revolves around the "me" attitude. Some folks just seem to think that the world revolves around them and that their the most important thing it in. I think they think I don't want to pick up after myself--someone else can. (We've got a couple at my workplace like that)

Well, I don't think anything has changed! I worked in retail in HS and college...1986-1994ish and people were lazy slobs then too!
