Would you take this free food?
I know this sounds weird....but, we had a huge family gathering and dd bought all the food (it was for her kids' b-days) We had a ton left overs due to people just not showing up after they RSVP'd! Anyway....she left a lot of it here and hasn't come back over to get it...doesn't want to be bothered (another thread) So, We have NO use for this. There is a HUGE tub of macaroni salad from Costco (Exp. Aug 8th) and a whole package of frozen hamburger patties (Costco) It has been opened, but only a few patties used...it was never thawed. Also some packages of hot dogs. We do not eat any of these things at all....I don't know anyone else with kids or anything....
So, I was going to list it for FREE on Craigslist...is that too weird???
I don't think it's worth a trip into town to the food bank since I don't know if they accept refer/frozen foods.Last edited by stinkbug; 07-22-2008 at 07:02 PM.

If I ate meat, I'd take it.

You'd be suprised at what people would take to feed thier families if they are struggling to make ends meet. If you list it on Craiglist, let us know how it went.

Someone here regularly lists free food on Freecycle. It is gone very quickly so I'm thinking you should have no problem at all!

I bet you if you put it on Craigslist, someone will take it. There are lots of people who will take whatever they can get.

I once actually saw a posting for 3/4 of a cake that was left over from a party on Freecycle and it was taken by someone. I'd go ahead and offer the food, if I were you. I'm sure someone will want/need it.

It is very thoughtful of you. I usually take any sweets that I make to the office, or run it up to our bank.(Gets rid of things we don't need. )We also do this with extra produce. People appreciate food items.

I'd like to think that the world was all safe and friendly but something against my better judgement says don't post it. Especially the opened mac salad.
Maybe its just me being paranoid but since these things have been opened, I'd be wondering what was done to and with it - but again, I am paranoid.
I'd opt to try to offering to a close friend/neighbour, someone who'd trust you. OR keep the burgers and hot dogs for their next visit in the freezer. This way they won't have to bring anything and you won't have to shop for these special items. I'm sure they will last a while in the freezer.

I would take it. List it, someone will get it.
