Default teachers/parents : time for school startup ?

i am a high school teacher. i got back from vacation two days ago, enough time to sort through the huge pile of mail, pay bills, balance the checkbook, do laundry.

usually i get started for school around Aug 1.

i feel that annual "oooo it's time for school " excitement I feel this time every year. i am also happy that this upcoming year I have only one prep - chemistry.

today i inspected and mended all my clothes, and re-dyed a couple of blazers. this took all day.

i need only two or three of pair of dressy black jeans or slacks; all the rest of the clothes from last year are still good. i seem to "trash" slacks, blazers last from year to year.

I don't seem to need a whole lot of supplies this year, although the inner kid in me gets excited about school supplies shopping.

    how 'bout you?

I got DS4's school shopping all done in one day last weekend since he goes on August 18th. I am more excited this year because both kids are going to school. I get three hours a day to myself, four days a week. I've been waiting five years for this! It's back to the gym for me and an outing to the mall every now and then.

I have most of my kids supplies inventoried and know what I need to replaced. My college freshman is almost completely taken care of.

I found out today that I get a long term substitute teaching position... I get to teach first grade until either January or May, depends on when the teacher gets back from her deployment! So I am getting excited about that. Our kids start on the 25th of Aug. here.

Ds#2 starts his junior year in high school August 25th.

Ds#1 Finishes his last semester of college and graduates in December. I think he said they start August 11th.

They don't need much of anything at this point. I bought some school supplies on sale at Wal-Mart & Target, but unfortunately they don't get a "supplies needed" list until the first week of school.

I am not ready for them to go back yet...they've only been home for a month now. We still have about 6 weeks left.

We have about 6 weeks left, as well. I'm not ready yet, as I haven't had a vacation yet. (I'm a teacher during the school year and work at a camp over the summer.) Camp ends August 8th, and we head to the beach for a week on August 9th. When we get home...THEN I'll be ready for Back-to-School talk.

I'm a continuation high school / special ed secretary. I love my job, but can't say I'm excited to be going back yet! I start Aug. 4th. I did tell dh yesterday it was a sad day because I went through my clothes and made sure the work clothes are clean. That means it's getting close!

Well, I'm personally not looking forward to school supply shopping this year. It seems that the teachers supply lists get longer and longer every year. It's ridiculous.

I am ready for the kids to go back, with me taking classes during the summer semester and 4 kids here it is very hard to study. My semester is done next week, then my fall classes start Aug. 18. I have 2 kids going into 5th grade and we have most of their supplies. My oldest is starting high school, I have no idea what she will need. Freshman orientation day is Aug. 6, I am really hoping she gets her schedule then. At the end of last year they picked the classes they want for next year. One of her electives was photography. If she got that class she needs a film slr camera, several rolls of film both color and black/white, and a digital slr camera. With the costs for the photography class I am hoping she doesn't need anything other then notebooks, pens and pencils for the rest of her classes. They don't go back to school till Aug. 25.

i used to get excited about school starting myself, all the new supplies, and clothes! but my daughter just never felt the same...

we got britt's schedule 2 weeks ago, go on the 5th to pay the fees (art class and other basic fees), then she starts the 13th...she says she wants to quit but i tell her it will be fine (she is a junior this year and in sp. ed. and doesn't like one of the teachers)

we won't know all of what she needs til after the firts day, but, have so many spiral notebooks and folders she didn't use last year so that is covered, pencils and pens are covered, just need to get reg notebook paper for homework, get her uniform pants, shoes, socks and p.e. uniform....hurry the 13th! i'm ready even if she's not!!!

ughhh...two more years of school to deal with!

I think the boys are ready. They have been bored and DS#2 will be a senior this year, so he is really excited about going back. He is also ready for football to begin. DS#3 loves school, so I know he is ready too. He will be in 8th grade. They have most of their school clothes. They just need a few more items - mainly tennis shoes. They shouldn't need much in the way of school supplies. I have a huge stockpile of school supplies on hand.

I need to buy me a couple of pairs of slacks for school. I am our school librarian and I also am an aide to 1st grade when they need me. I love my job so much so that I am going to school to get my degree to teach. :-) I will be ready in about 2 more weeks. I have some things to take care of first.

I have alot of mixed feelings this upcoming school year.
After 6 years of homeschooling, my 2 kiddos are going back to p.school.

So, while I'm glad that they are beginning to look forward to it, I will miss seeing them & being with them every day.

School starts here in less than 3 weeks, so it will be here before we know it.

The only things that I've bought are some of the .5 notebooks from Wal-mart, 3 packages of mechanical pencils & some lead refills for them, and each of them a lunchbox.
However I did find the backpack that I want to buy for my 15 ds., thankfully a family member bought my dd. one last year and it's brand new, since she had no reason to use it.

I don't have any kind of school supply list and since I don't get to register my dd. until the first partial day of school, August 5th, I probably won't get one until that first week.

I still have some school clothes to buy for each of them, but for the most part they have enough to start school with.

This year is going to be full of new & hopefully exciting things for them both.
While they will be dealing with some adjustments, I can't wait for them to meet new friends and become part of our new community.

Ever so slowly rebuilding my stockpile...
