Getting a tad bit nervous

Hello everyone,

Things are concerning me at work. I work in HR and there are rumblings of layoffs....nothing is official though. What I do know is there is a big meeting scheduled between HR and the unions on Monday to talk about the '09 budget, the VP has been asking for various employee reports from us, and they have been placing EAP brochures in conspicous places throughout the company when they have NEVER done that before.

I realize that there is nothing concrete to worry about yet, but I guess it is just the fear of the unknown. Things feel sort of "temporary" right now. It has made it hard to concentrate at work and I keep going over the numbers in my head of what we would need to make in order to survive bare bones. DH has been looking for work for a while, but nothing has materialized yet, so in the meantime he is doing his own computer business on the side. He makes decent money doing that when business is good, but it's not a steady income.

Anyway, I guess I just needed a place to vent my worries and frustrations. I have almost 20 years with the company, but I am in the 1st level of supervision and there are only three people in my classification. One has more seniority than me and one has less. I just hope and pray for the best....

I hope things work out for you and I can understand your feeling of fear about what's going on. These are troubled times for many of us. You and your family are in my prayers.
