    Default The Laptop Arrived!!!!

Woot! My daughter's laptop arrived yesterday! It's fantastic and I'm thrilled with the deal we got. 30% off at Gateway. $900 laptop for $600.

It's loaded nicely... it's nicer than the one I got my oldest a year ago and is about the same price (that one was a great sale too)!

For the geeks, here are a few of the specs:

Intel Duocore processor 2 GHz, 667 MHz, 2mb cache
    2048 MB,667 MHz SD RAM - expandable to 4GB
160 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
Graphics accelerators, dvd rw with label writer, integrated webcam, 15.4" screen, media card reader, wireless ready, network ready

And... it's a pretty garnet red!

We are very, very pleased with the bargain. Paid in full!

Here's a link to it... the sale is only $200 off today, but if you're interested, monitor it because I bet they'll do the $300 off again soon.

Thanks for posting the info. I'm looking to buy a laptop soon and you've given me something to compare to the Acer I was considering.

Wow, just went to the site to look at the details and found this:

    Dear Gateway Customers,

Beginning July 27th, 2008, Gateway Computers will be shifting to a 100% indirect sales model. We'll be offering the same great technology and services with a renewed focus on delivering cutting-edge products through various retail stores across the country, online and off.

    Why are we changing?

By offering our acclaimed Notebook, Desktop and Display lines exclusively through retail partner stores and Web sites, we're able to more effectively develop and deliver the products you want in an efficient, customer-focused way. Our aim is to provide you with a better experience as a shopper by strengthening our retail presence and building increased value into our products while still making the leaps and bounds in personal and productivity computing you've come to expect over the last 23 years.

Although you won't be able to purchase from us directly, Gateway.com is still your number one resource for information on the latest Gateway products, purchase methods and locations, along with support for previous purchases.

Thanks to your post about the Gateway, I ended up choosing one as well instead of the Acer. I chose a different model:

and I absolutely love it. Specs are on product page, just scroll down. I got mine for $628, employee discount plus tax free weekend.

    Thanks for the post!
