For July I decided to try to eat from freezers and pantry and garden. Wanted to spend less than $50 on things. So far only $36 spent. I also wanted to stay away from gas station. I haven't gone yet this month and I just dropped below 1/2 tank. I stay home a lot!!!
I hope to do the grocery thing again in Aug. as the freezers and pantry don't look like they have emptied at all. YEA Gas too - I will fill up when the price goes some lower ( went below $4 this week)
I have spent $50 on gifts to send to nephew in Irag this month and $14 to ship them. I also spent $40 on Christmas stuff on a 20% sale.
That's it, except regular bills this month. I think I did pretty good. No eating out.
Hopefully I can do the same in Aug. Wish me luck!

Money wise, spend less while flying. I used to spend about $400 a month on the road. Now I pack as much food as I can. 3/4 thru this month I am at aprox $50.

    1. Get debt free
    2. Lose lots of weight
    3. Finish renovating the apartments

#1) We have a plan. We are following it. We are doing well given the early stages of the plan.
#2) We have a diet. We are mostly following it. We have each lost 15 pounds in 4 weeks.
#3) We have a sort of plan. We are sort of following it. It is going slow as hell. I need 2 weeks vacation to really focus on it, but I don't have the time - work is too busy.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Start a new thread, tell us your income, expenses, and debts and any other significant financial information, and we can help.

As for #2 - um...moral support? STOP EATING BAD!!! There, did that help?

I have spent the last month evaluating things and keeping track. We FINALLY got word on DH going back to school so now that I know what the income will be I can proceed! Thanks for the offer and I will definately take you all up on that very soon.

As for the eating.... moral support is great! A zipper over my mouth would probably be more effective!!

    1. Develop a budget that eliminates dependence on child support. (It IS used to support the kids, but I want to wean ourselves off it completely, not use it as a crutch.)

    2. Lose weight - 1-2 lbs. per week preferably. Long way to go, but slow and steady wins the race.

    3. Organize my house. Moved over 6 months ago and still can't find everything, still have some boxes not yet unpacked.

    How am I doing:

#1. - so-so...working on it. Debts are almost eliminated, except my car. Slowly working into it.

#2. Not so great. Need to do better.

#3. Work in progress, hoping to make a sizeable dent this weekend. Also taking Monday off from work, so that may help!

    Goals:

    1. Finish paying off truck.

    2. Pay off credit debt. (3 cards, varying)

    3. Get to goal weight.

    Progress:

    1. On track with truck, should be paid off before time.

    2. Credit card #1 - Burned and almost paid off.
Credit card #2 - Burned and working on slowly.
Credit card #3 - Handed to DH yesterday & asked him to just shoot me. (Stuff keeps happening.)

    3. This is going great, so far!

    1) Get back on track with our budget and get in the habit of using it *every* month.

    2) Start using my cooking menu routine and get back into the habit of making my grocery list from it every 2 weeks, it saves me a ton of money when shopping this way.

    3) Continually increase my stockpile each and every month, right now I'm striving for complete 3 month stockpile.

    4) Once the kids get settled back in school, find a part-time job.

Oops, forgot to post my progress:
    1) We had been doing really good with this up until the move and getting settled into our house.
So this upcoming month will be the first month we are getting back on track with it, after not keeping up with it for the past 3 months.

    2) I've spent the past week getting and entire month's menu completed, listing all the ingredients I need to have on hand to make each recipe AND have already made out my grocery list for next week.

    3) I think by the end of the year, I should have this completed. Right now I'm in the "storage" phase, getting some 5 gallon buckets, mylar bags, and oxygen absorbers for my staples, such as rice, beans, flour, sugar, etc.

    4) This one may be a bit trickier with the way the economy is going and considering I really only want to work while the kids are in school. Those hours/days are hard to come by when you've been out of the work force for the past 8 years.
    So, we'll see what happens.

~Get rid of all the stuff I've been holding for a yard sale. I could make about $100 but I've been putting it off since May and I'm sick of looking at the stuff. I've listed some on Freecycle this week and I'll list another batch next week.
~Become a runner/jogger. I've never been good at running, even as a kid. My legs and stamina are great but my lungs are the worst. I've been working on building up my lung strength by adding a or several 3 minute jogging bursts into my walking routine. This week I pushed myself up to 3/8th's mile running! I'd like to get to a full mile.
~Simplify my life. I think it was Telephus that posted a while back about discontinuing membership in 'programs'. Even if they save or make a little money, the mental clarity of not having/doing them is so much more valuable. I've already canceled 4 programs and I have about 6 other ones to cut. Along with this is removing myself from every mailing list, email list and calling list.
~Re-order my priorities. Now that my kids are no longer babies I need to bump up their education to the top 5 on my priorities. Right now they are approximately positioned:
    1. Money Management(bills, essentials)
    2. Homemaking(restful home, tasty food, dishes and laundry always caught up)
    3. Kid's education(even though I'm unschooling I need a plan)
    4. My fitness and well-being
    5. Saving money(coupons, making gifts, shopping around for better deals, Frugal Village-ing)
I don't include being a wife and mommy because those I don't need a reminder to prioritize those, they're instinctive.~

    1. Buying mostly organic food items (and still trying to stay within our set budget): breads, grains, sugar, fruits, veggies, meats, yogurt, etc...

    2. Trying to lose weight (4-6 pounds per month) in order to lower my blood pressure and come off of my blood pressure medicine.

    3. Exercise: I'm limited to walking only (since my car accident) I am trying to walk for 1 hour each day and striving to increase the miles I walk (3-4) miles is my average per day.

    4. Working on the envelope system to help stay within my budget.

    5. Striving to keep my apartment clean and clutter free

    Two big ones:

    1. Try and eat more healthily - and I mean less eating out, more cooking at home as well as less packaged/processed foods, and more organic and natural foods. We've been doing pretty well at this in the last two weeks. I've got DH hooked on Trader Joe's so most of what we buy is pretty healthy.

    2. Fully fund my Roth IRA for 2008 out of my allowance money and anything extra I can make (birthday $$, surveys, selling stuff on eBay) - right now I have about $1900 out of the $5000 max contribution. I still have another 9 months to go. Normally we'd fund this out of joint money, but since we're saving for a house, all of the extra joint $$ is going into a down payment fund. So this is just my little challenge to myself.

I want to loose 50 pounds by Christmas. I'm doing Weight Watchers. I've been on it 3 weeks and have lost 10 pounds.

I intend to pay our home off by fall. We will have the money in October to do just that.

I also plan on paying off the last of our doctor bills when I pay off the house.
