Might Loose My House
Just gotta let it out......
DH has Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and had to have unexpected immediate surgeries which have really set us back.
We were behind on our mortgage payments (who isn't these days) and he was ordered to have a heart cath done in late april which caused him to miss 1/2 week of work (with doctors appts and the procedure) then he had to miss another 1/2 week of work the following week due to more Dr.s appointments and then on the 13th of may he had to have a pacemaker/defibrilator implanted into his chest and was ordered out of work for 1 full month.
I used our stimulus check to pay the May payment on our house, but didn't have enough to pay any in June, so then we were 3 months behind and in July we were told that we had to pay a minimum of 3 payments (which I haven't had) again due to DH having a ton of doctor's appts and he had to have another surgery due to the fact that he pulled one of the leads out of his heart and had to have emergency surgery 2 weeks ago. So....another week of work missed (we talked the doctor into not making him take 2 months off like they really wanted him to do).
So at this point I might have enough for 1 house payment by the end of the month...but the mortgage company wants 3, we will probably go into the forclosure process in August

When you took out your mortgage did you by chance get the mortgage insurance?
I know they offered it to us when we bought our home.
Sending prayers and good thoughts.

Sheesh! that's horrible!!!
I don't know much about the situation - but does he get sick time? pay?
If he has a doctor's appointment on a day can he just arrange to take a couple of hours off intead of the whole day?
(when I have a doctor's appointment, I go first thing in the morning and come in late and make up my time druing the week)
Can you sell anything to pay the mortgage? Anything?
Sorry you're having to deal with this.

It seems to me that with the banks foreclosing on so many houses, they maybe more open to working with you. I mean, getting one payment is better than getting none. I would try to contact them and see if they would work something out, where it seems as if a health issue is behind the late payments.
I am sorry you are dealing with this.

I'm so sorry you are going thru this.
The main thing is to get your DH in better shape. talk to the mortgage company . In most cases, they don't want to take your home - it really doesn't help them. There might be other things they can do. Good Luck

Really the bank does NOT want your house. Call and try to work something out way ahead of just letting it go. Make them very aware that this is from a medical hardship and not that your rates readjusted and now and forever more they will be more than you can pay.

Call the bank NOW! Do not hesitate, do not delay. work out something with them that YOU feel as though you can manage.
The worst thing you can do is to sit and wait for them to start proceedings.Russ

Im soo sorry to hear about your hubby.
I agree with eveyone - call the bank that you have your mortgage with. Ask if they can add these payments to the end of your mortgage (I remember a friend doing that a few years ago), even if they need to add on interest.
Best of luck to you I hope you get it all worked out quickly

First... sorry you are going through this.
Second, contact the docs and hospital to see if you can reduce the bills. Ask about financial assistance programs and payment plans. Apply for medicaid to expedite this process.
Third, follow everyone's advice and contact the bank to work something out before they begin foreclosure proceedings.
Fourth, go to your local DHS and ask about TANF (temporary assistance for needy families).
Good luck. Breathe. You will recover.
