Default New search engine launched. Cuil (Google competitor)

    Hi folks,

Going to be testing out a new search engine out. it is called Cuil.
    http://www.cuil.com

Try it out! It has been indexing the web for the last two years and was launched last night to the public.

    Potential Google challenger here.

I'm going to play with it. Let me know what you think about it in this thread.

It's different. Suppose to search farther and deeper than Google.

I'll use it for all my searches and report back.

So far I have not been able to use Cuil. I get a message that says their "engines are running hot" due to overwhelming response.

Update, finally got on. Will try it out now.

Update to update. Takes forever to search and then the "running hot" message.

I got the same error message:

    We’ll be back soon...

Due to overwhelming interest, our Cuil servers are running a bit hot right now. The search engine is momentarily unavailable as we add more capacity.
    Thanks for your patience.

I'll keep trying and report back

    Thumbs down

Due to excessive load, our servers didn't return results. Please try your search again

I got in and when I did a search for Frugal Village, it stated 38,175 links but it would only show 6 links and no further pages to see. I searched for my home town and all I got were pages and pages of the spam sites like "find mortgage investors in __________, _______" "truck driving jobs in __________, ___________" (small town with no mortgage investors or truck driving jobs ) .I don't think that they are going to cause Google any loss unless they really improve over time.

Yeah, I did the same search. Weird that it only showed 6 links. Maybe there's a way to see all of the other results, but it's just not a user-friendly thing?

Indeed rockly start. Their search needs to be fixed. It is buggy right now. As others have mentioned results are inconsistent.

    The way I see it:
-They will get plenty of testing now that it is public to fix these problems.
-I think they will get better with time.
-The main thing I like is that they do not track what individuals search for.
