Applied for ordination today...
...and I still can't believe I did it.
I checked with the clerk when we applied for my sis' license today and as far as she knew it was perfectly legal. I'm actually considering using it more than once. It would be a lot of fun being a wedding officiant several times a year! I'm just really excited and wanted to share!~

That's great! I have two very close friends who became ordained online and have married other, close friends of ours. They said it was so much more meaningful having someone they love perform the ceremonies. In fact, my one of my best friends is getting married in September and her cousin became ordained to do the ceremony because he spoke at their other cousins funeral and she just thought he was so eloquent. Interesting stuff!

I have a friend who makes a decent living this way. He marries non-tradition/non-church going folks.

That is wonderful! Let us know how it goes...
My husband used to work in the county clerk's office and married a few couples right there in the office. He really enjoyed it!

That is so awesome! DH and I wanted a non traditional service and we used someone who was ordained, but not through a given church (he had been a chaplain in the military, but had never been a reverend or pastor at a church) when we got married. He was wonderful, becuase he was willing to customize our service more than our church would!
You could make some extra money doing it! I think around here, wedding officiants get between $250-$400 per wedding. Find a local chapel or some wedding hot spots and get to know them, so when someone asks them for a recommendation...they'll give them your name!
