    Default Background checks

I don't know if this is the right place to put this or not but here goes. Has anyone used or know how accurate the sites are that do background and warrant checks on people? We've got a support problem ( she's not paying because she has a disability. She's a coke head and working two jobs to boot.) and found out that she has 9 different warrants out for her in 2 states the latest being a DUI. The cops came here looking for her cause she used our address for a change of address without us knowing it. She lives out of state too. Before I call the lawyer I wanted to make sure everything I have is accurate. TIA

I have never used any of those sites. Im in Canada and I know here you can request the police do one. They may not give you specific info but they would definately tell you if needed a lawyer! Its also free to do that. If they came looking for her chances are the warrants are out there!

Having done employment background checks, including FBI and state records... I wouldn't be able to do it without the person's consent, fingerprints and ID. I had an acc't with the state agency but these were only given to certain businesses. For this reason, I highly doubt any of the websites are accurate, verifiable and legal. You are not allowed to just root through other folks history without their knowledge. The lawyer, however, might be able to obtain the info. If it's in multiple states it will require the FBI check.

If you are wanting to look at her charges, some states have a site you can look them up on.

Here in Iowa, it's called Iowa Courts Online. It's a very handy little tool.

This is correct in terms of employment law. However, most warrents and criminal records are a matter of public knowledge and anyone with the time and inclination to look stuff up can do just that.

To the OP - Most states just don't care even if you serve up the address on plate and give it to them. Unless the person is a violent criminal they just let it go until that person pops up again on their radar. The systems are over worked and have a lot of appathy. (Ask me how I know.....)
However, I did use a service like this to get an address of my ex so I could serve him with divorce papers. It worked in terms of getting him served, the address was correct.

    Good luck

Thanks for the in out. I know in Pa the info is public knowledge but not charges. I do want to say that while it seems I am being a rotten person ( for lack of using another word), the things she has put her daughter through in the last 5 years and her mother and father you would not believe. I am not a perfect person but I can't justify the mental problems this has cause the daughter. There was no food for days at a time, she found the drugs kiddie porn and has major health issues now not to mention what it has to be doing to her mentally. We don't want her to grow up thinking it's ok to run from your problems as we've already had issues with her. Thanks again to everyones input.

That didn't take long. I caleed the D.A where the warrants were issued, my husband actually went to school with him, and he took down everything I had and is going to check into it. He actually sounded like he was smiling if you know what I mean. They've been looking for her for awhile. I feel bad but at the same time I feel like maybe I helped someone. The one charge is a fraud charge in Illinois for openingup a credit card in a minors name. How an 8 year old can get past all the security stuff Capital One has is beyond me. I can't even get one of those.

That was the proper step, turn it over to those in authority who have access to the information and let them handle it.

What do you hope to accomplish with the info?

Keep in mind if she is in jail there will be no child support...and most likely she wont get out until she can pay...and she cant pay in jail...and the cycle repeats. Just a heads up.

Well she isn't in jail yet. But she was found guilty . We hoped to find an address and I found it. So now we at least have an address to send the domestics papers to in additon to her mothers address that she's been using. It is true that if she is in jail she can't pay but they do have ways for her to earn the back support even if it means working on what we called the orange crew. They get so much a day towards their fines for doing county work. Whether its painting offices or picking up trash. So far there are 9 outstanding warrants from felonies to fraud . Thats just in one state. The daughter is letting all this info slip like she wants someone to do something. No questions have been asked. She just out of the blue tells us this and she's been there twice when the cops came looking for her mother. She doesn't know that we decided to inquire about the warrants. Think for now that's probably better unless she asks. She's 14 and is not dumb so she'll probably figure it out but she never hears from her mother. 15 minutes in a year in my book is not keeping in contact. Have to wait and see what happens if anything. Thanks for the support.

You can go to http://www.criminalsearches.com/ and find out information about someone. I have learned some interesting thinks about some neighbors through this site.

Just put in their first and last name and the state and it will pull up any arrest that have been made on that person.
