It was/is Free! -- Thoughts
I have been thinking about "Free" lately.
We had a few free swim days recently. A family was celebrating an accomplishment so they volunteered to pay for every child's admission to the swimming park. Yes every child they paid for. It was so kind as it normally expensive to get in the water park.
This started me thinking of free things that were provided or paid for by the kindness of others.
Like the free concert at a church ( provided for free by the singers or paid for my the church)
The free concerts/activities provided by the library ( provided my organizations of people that came together to paid for these)
The free movie days (Provided by the man/family who buys out the $1 moves a few months a year so everyone can go to the movies for free.)
The free scarfs and mittens for any child who wants/needs them (provided by the knitting ladies group)
The everyone is invited Thanksgiving supper (provided by a local church)
The free help yourself candy in candy dishes at stores, banks, etc. (provided by the people who work their or by the place itself)
The after school enrichment program free for all students (provided by the volunteers who decide to share/teach their talents)
The free magazines at the magazine exchange ( provided by people sharing their magazines they have read)
The free house/yard work for senior citizens (provided by the teenagers spend part of their summer doing this)
Just to name a few, all provided free not based on need or income level, but just because the person is a person/child in the community.
Then there are hand me downs passed from friend to friend and neighbor to neighbor.
The neighbor who makes a soup for a sick neighbor.
The lady at church who gives a child a "present" just be they had something the child would like.
The list goes on and on.
All this provided by another out of kindness for another "just because"
Isn't a grand world we live in/share?

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Awesome perspective. You are correct, we are blessed."That which does not kill us makes us stronger."

We have been so blessed by the kindness of others. I sure understand that word FREE. My husband has been laid off and it's been rough. Funny thing is while everyone knows my husbands laid off we don't talk about it(with the exception of this board) But, we have people come up to us in church and ask if my husband is back to work yet, or to let us know they are praying for us.
Every week we are blessed by some unknown angels who drop off a bag of food or a $1000.00 money order in the mail-thats happened twice. We have free movie tickets, free tickets to a light show, an entire brand new wardrobe for our youngest son. So yes, I am amazed and totally humbled by those who give so generously.
The word FREE has never had so much meaning as it does right now.

There are alot of things we just take for granted. Sometimes we just need to be reminded to be gratefull for what we have in our home and in our community, and we need to remember to thank people that do nice things for us.

Thanks for this post! Sometimes we concentrate on all the bad things going on in the world and we forget to think about all the good!
