We just had an earthquake!

I felt it here, and it scared me! DS thought it was a truck driving by and ran to look out the window. I scooped him up and waited for it to stop. Then I picked up the phone to call DH and he was already on the line. He had called me first! Cell phones aren't working right now though, so I can't call my mom. And DH can't get a hold of his mom either.

Anyway, we're fine. I'm about 30 or more miles from the actual location of it. Just wanted to share.

Dh is at a conf. near LAX. I got a txt msg. and that's it. So are all cells down? I'm 3 hr.s north in Santa Maria and didn't feel it.

I just heard from him...so far he's okay. I hope that was it and no other major quake to come.

Good to hear that he's okay! My cell still isn't working so I'm guessing maybe some towers went down somewhere. Supposedly there were quite a few aftershocks, but I didn't feel any of them.

I bet the cell phone problem is that the system is overloaded with a spike in phone calls.

From the conversation I had w/ dh it was surprising but not bad. He was only 25 mi. from the epicenter. Looks like the media is making a huge deal out of this.

I agree. It was nothing catastrophic. It scared me, but did no damage. It's been about 3 years since I've felt an earthquake here, so maybe that's why they're making a big deal?

Plus, everyone's been on edge for years waiting for "the big one."
