Unfrugal moments??
My dh and I have our birthdays 2 days apart (8yr difference). I am the frugal person in our home. I can pinch pennies until they sqeak. Anyhow for our birthdays we spluched, very unfrugal, we had lobsters. Can believe we did it but the price is down and we paid $5.49 a lb. That is cheap for here in Maine. DS has helped us to have this meal. We cooked them at home. I hate to eat lobster in a restaurant as it is a messy job. Well, since I have admitted to my unfrugal day, how about your most unfrugal episode in the past year???? I know I can't be alone in this slip of nature. But, you know I will sleep without a quilty conscious. Boy those libsters were sooooooooooo gooood!!!!

Think of it this way. Your birthday only comes once a year, do something fun to celebrate it.
I've bought stuff that I won't be using again. It's something I need to work on. I have a small problem with buying things on impulse.

I was exhausted tonight and spent $20 on pizza rather than cooking. I probably could have gotten it cheaper, not to mention made my own, but I just didn't feel like it.

I think that was very frugal actually! A 100 meal is unfrugal but yet to me totally justified for a real special occasion. To be being frugal on the stuff that isn't so important lets me have $ to do what is important to me.
What have I done unfrugal lately? Spent 500 on a concert for dh, myself, our niece and her boyfriend.
Happy belated birthday!Last edited by nodmicks; 08-01-2008 at 08:51 PM.

I'm about to be unfrugal tonight and I don't care.
I'm headed to Barnes and Noble at midnight to get my reserved copy of "Breaking Dawn" and I'll also be purchasing the first three books in the series as well. I borrowed the first three from friends to read, but I want to read them over and over and so tonight, I buy. Mwahhhhahahah...

We had a very unfrugal weekend a couple of weeks ago. We went to St. Louis for the weekend, Cardinals tickets were free, but we ended up spending about $300 on other stuff, it was fun and we didn't go in debt to do it.

We were unfrugal and went to Red Lobster the other night. We were thinking of getting lobster but they wanted $20 a lb. We did spend $60 for supper but I didnt care. I was feeling depressed about dh being gone.

Our family vacation this year--two WHOLE days--yippee. We spent about $300.00 for the entire trip. IMHO, that's cheap, but it's still a lot of cash to hand out. If I (ME!) was running the vacation (like when I took DSs a few years back), we would have taken cereal for breakfast, sandwich stuff for lunch and had ONE meal a day out. Then we could have stayed another day for the same amount of money. Oh well, at least I got us a cheap room (thank you, Motel 6!).

Bought cattle equipment for our kids to show their cattle, DH went to a cattle sale yesterday and the supply place is in the same town, he took ds with him and they came home with another expensive piece of equipment. DS 11, bought a couple of pieces himself too that he had been saving for. I am sure it was all at least $1000 DH just left a signed check and told them to mail the reciet.
Today is a no tax day on clothes, so school clothes shopping today and spending the day with the kids, I bet I will match hubby's day of spending too.Sandy

Boy.... Your making me miss Maine! I use to live in Skowhegan about 10 years ago and loved the little fisherman who use to sell by the road. I love lobster but DH doesn't. My mouth is watering!!!
If I had the extra $$ I'd be having an unfrugal moment right now!
Happy Birthday!

I have had several. One my dh and I had dinner at the Melting Pot. One of those places that is like a fondue. You cook your own food at the table. It was great but the price is 100.00 for two plus tip. Not too frugal. It was worth it though.
Happy birthday!

Hey, I did not know that you were a Maine girl too, cool.
I know Skowhegan a bit but Newport and Skowhegen used to be DH stopping grounds as a teenager and young adult.
Oh yeah forgot the topic of the thread: June, the month of June carries father's day and four birthdays in this family and 3 years ago graduation and next year graduation. I try to plan and save months ahead to control the hemmorage that this month takes in my frugality.Last edited by LuvMyHubby; 08-02-2008 at 12:15 PM.
