Interesting article. And timely, since DH and I are pondering the possibility of me leaving my stressful job to stay at home. It's nice to see we're not alone.

If we were financially where I wanted to be, I would be a stay at home wife. Dh has joked that he wanted to be a stay at home husband, but if I made enough, it would work! There would definitely be less stress on my end and more time for housework. I'd probably actually be happier if I stayed at home!

Interesting article. (I'm going to respond even though I have kids!) My dh has always said he would support me whatever I decided but that he does prefer that I stay at home. He says it's a relief for him to be able to go to work knowing the home and kids are completely taken care of and thriving. He doesn't understand his friends who pressure their wives to get a job. And like the article said if "homemaking" is done correctly it is a highly regimented, involved undertaking. I take my role as steward of home and hearth very seriously!

I just got done reading this right before coming here. DH is home sick today, and I said to him, fancy that, I'm a pioneer and a status symbol, babe, lol. I might not count though I do bring in some money through our business.
I became a stay at home wife due to health reasons, but now that finances are less stressed, it's a very nice situation (at least, when I'm feeling okay.) As someone who at one point was working three jobs and going to school full time at once, I definitely feel a lot more at peace being able to concentrate on my home and my husband.
I think a lot of our friends think I'm weird or I must be bored (or lazy), but I'm actually busy a lot! And the hubs likes having a nice, tidy house and I'm always there when he needs me. It works well for us.
