Default Yea!!! The Olympics start this week!

I love watching the Olympics! The gymnastics, track and swimming are my favs, but I can watch it all (and probably will!)
It will be nice to have something decent to watch on TV for a change.

I'm excited too. I just hope they have them on at decent times...being that there's a 12hour time difference (at least here on the east coast). It was kind of crappy for the Nagano Olympics to get up to watch a ice skating race and already know who won before the race was even aired.

We are also excited to watch the Olympics tomorrow. DD8 has been mapping out our viewing.
It is great that they have voted Lopez Lamong to be the torch bearer. He is an runner and one of the Lost Boys of Sudan. A local family fostered him, and last year he became a US citizen. The ceremonies will have a great local touch this year. We can't wait! The community is raising $$ so the foster family can go and see him run next week.

I love the Olympics, both summer and wintter games! Since I am one of the "athletically challenged" members of society it's fascinating for me to watch those who excel.

I'm way excited to watch them! I am super excited about gymnastics, especially since Des Moines local Shawn Johnson is performing.

I'm looking forward to them too. It hit me earlier this week when we were talking about them at work that when we first moved to the Johnson City, TN area the olympics were starting the week we had the cable installed and I was pregnant with Paige. Now here it is 4 years later the olympics are starting and I am pregnant again....lol

I love them too. I especially enjoy gymnastics and diving.
This year, however, I am looking forward to the "special interest stories" that do about the local area during the olympics. My daughter was born in China, we got to go there to bring her home a few years ago. How it possible that my heart can ache so badly for a land I was only in for two weeks??? And yet it does! So anyway, I am looking forward to the "china stories" that I am sure will air with the olympics.

I love the opening ceremonies when all the athletes look so proud to be representing their various countries.

At least for those few hours, the spirit of competition seems innocent and clean and wholesome.
