    Default Just my luck!

You know bad things come in 3's....
Monday, our DS shattered a window( Thankfully he was fine other than minor cuts on his hands and wrist. We were about to bring him to the hospital but they stopped bleeding and sealed up great)-they are old single paned windows. We have no money to fix it so DH put a piece of cardboard in the hole for now. I will have to save a few dollars to bring it to the glass people and replace the glass(cheaper than replacing the window)
Then, this morning DH tells me that the toilet seat broke! Ugh!
Neither of these things cost alot of money but at this point I don't have anything to spare! I had to make another repayment plan on the mortgage. Once October comes and the car is paid off, things will be a lot better! But until then, I have no extra money, noone to borrow the money from.
I can deal with both until I get the money, but what is coming next?! Here's Murphy!

okay, first I am so glad your ds is okay. I bet that scared you to death!

Second, the window is in wait mode--can anyone see it from the street? Can anyone ENTER from the window? If you are safe then just let it roll off you until you can get it fixed. Don't sweat it.

The toliet seat. Mine is acting wonky too. Just be careful!

As for murphy--don't think about him and the vibe won't call him.

Congrats on getting the car paid off!

Ugh I hate when that happens! We're stuck right now with finding a place that sells a valve thingie for the upstairs bathtub faucet. If not, then we're gonna have to pull from our EF and replace the entire faucet and that includes having to re-tile the entire area around the tub.

I second that. Dark chocolate is always good for times like those. I'm glad your son is okay. Cricketlegs has a great idea and way of looking at things and don't think about what will happen next. Just look on the bright side, you're about to pay off a car. That's a great accomplishment! Hope things start looking up for you!

Yes, It scared me. I started to cry after it was all done and I had rinsed him off in the shower to make sure there weren't any small shards of glass on him. It could have been so much worse! Thank God it wasn't!

Second, the window is in wait mode--can anyone see it from the street? Can anyone ENTER from the window? If you are safe then just let it roll off you until you can get it fixed. Don't sweat it.

Yes, it is visible from the street.
Yes, someone could enter from the window since they are older windows and the screens don't lock into place. But, I think our neighborhood is safe enough. I leave the windows open at night so I'm not too worried about that.
I have no choice but to wait. My mortgage has to be 1st priority right now. The window is 2nd. Once the car is paid off, I'll just save for 1 new window and go buy one-DH and the neighbor can install it. We need new windows anyway. I'll just do them one at a time. When I have the money.

The toliet seat. Mine is acting wonky too. Just be careful!
I'm wondering if I can superglue it. Anyone know of a homemade superglue? It's the hinge that broke. I just need to glue it back down to the rim and the bendy part will work. I just don't have even $1 to go to the dollar store and get some.
As for murphy--don't think about him and the vibe won't call him.

Ok, I'm not going to think of it! If I don't think, he won't come!
Congrats on getting the car paid off!
Thank you, I can't wait! I make a fairly decent income but when our truck broke down beyond repair on DH way home from work a year ago we had no choice but to get this car... It's been very hard to balance everything. But, the end is near! And I'll be able to start paying things off and getting back on track!

I'm glad your ds wasn't seriously hurt.

About the window...a couple of years ago dh broke one of the single pane windows in our back door (it has four panes of glass, think a square with a plus sign drawn in it). He just measured the opening and went to Lowe's. They cut him a piece of glass to fit the opening, he bought some glazing stuff and fixed the window himself for less than $10.

Glad your son wasnt hurt. I would patch the window and fix when you have the money...its not like its winter and snow is gonna come in!! We have an old house we are SLOWLY renovating. We picked up some windows that fit our basement ones that needed to be replaced on the side of the street. Try freecycle???

I never thought of freecycle! I use it all the time! I will have DH measure and I'll post tonight! Thank you.
DH put a big piece of cardboard in the hole for now. If I have to and it gets cold before I pay the car off in October then I'll just put some plastic up with a blanket nailed into the frame over the window and under the plastic to try to ward off the cold. But, I'm sure it'll be fixed before then.
