Being rude to customers is, sadly, too often the way of the world today. But to defy your manager who is telling you specifically what to do? He should have been sent away from the situation with you, and then clocked out -- by management and for the last time. That's an incredible story. Either of those things should have put his job in jeopardy, and both together should be a done deal.

Whew! I would have been majorly P.O.'d too! Like Donna I can't believe the little twerp openly defied his manager and treated you so shabbily. He certainly has a few things to learn about customer service. The manager definitely should've fired him.

There is a locally owned shop down the street from where I live. You can rent everything from a backhoe to a mop. I rent from them if I need to rent equipment. I won't rent from HD or Lowes. For materials I usually end up at HD simply cuz' Lowe's seems to be "construction light" and doesn't have the material I'm looking for.

I DID purchase a security door (wrought iron) and hired HD to install. When the installer came over he was hitting on me and when he went to leave, gave me a hug and grabbed my a$$.

Later, after he left, I found out that parts were missing. When I called HD, they said they would have them delivered to my house. I explained the situation with Mr. "A$$ Grabber" and told them that on no uncertain terms would he be allowed back at my house. They sent someone else.

I don't let HD do any installation, from now on. I would have done it (the door install) myself, but it would have voided their warranty. Sheesh!

That must have been frustrating for you. I work at HD and it really does depend on the area. In ours, many people will drive by two other HD's and one Lowe's to come to our store because of our customer service. We win awards!

That little twerp not backing down...geez.

Katybird--sorry, I tried to quote your post. The reason why HD could not discount the tractor for you is because the manufacturer (John Deere, etc.) sets the price. We are not allowed to touch it. That is why you went to Lowe's and bought it for the same exact price. They can't touch their tractor prices, either. They could have, however, given you something for your troubles such as another item free or discounted.

They flat refused to offer any kind of discount on any other one, even if they had offered as little as $50 off, he would have felt appeased and would have bought from them. Instead, he took his money and went somewhere else and bought the same one for the same price. They lost a $3000 sale over $50. Idiots We make it a point to go to Lowes now.
Ahhh.....that is the feature I was looking for. Sorry!

unfortunately, around here both Lowe's and HD hire from the same sorry gene pool, so the customer service stinks in both places. Also the new HD that opened closer has fewer products than the old HD that's been 1 town over for years.
