Spin Off: If you HAD to be selfish and spend $1000...
Ok a spin off of the Walmart gc thread.
If you were given $1000 tax free, no strings and you could NOT use it to pay bills/debts/kids/gas/food/stockpiling, etc...
And you HAD to selfishly spend it ONLY on yourself and could NOT spend a single dime on a bill or family member.
What would you do?????Starve a bank... Pay cash.

Is it sad that my mind goes blank when I try to think of something?

OK, I thought and thought and the only thing that just kept coming back to me was, take my Mom and go thrift store and antique store shopping and raid a bunch of garage sales all weekend! Then buy her and I a weekend in Reno at the Atlantis and spend most of my free time in the Buffet there!!!

Hmm. I started to reply thinking, "This'll be easy!" - but now I"m not sure.
I think a very nice dinner for ceashels and I, and a weekend trip somewhere nice. Then I'd use the left overs for a stockpile of new computer games.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I would have to say a little get-a-way for three days. Thats all 1000.00 would cover. We really need it.
Not doing anything wild, but just getting away.
I'll take my 1000 now, thank you very much.

If I was allowed to put another $400 or so towards it, I'd buy a Pashley bicycle.
If I could only have the $1000, I'd spend $700 to have some Restalyne put in my cheeks and the other $300 on clothes/shoes/accessories.

that's a hard question for frugal folks!

I would get a 1 1/2 hour massage ahhhhh.
buy gift certificates for grocery stores for my 3 sisters and brother to help them out.
get another massage
buy i-pods for me, dh & son (would that count since I'm buying for them also?)
get a pedicure.
it's hard to come up with something that isn't "pay off a bill".
Oh, I would use that 1000 to buy a woodstove insert!Wife to DH

Hmmmm I think a trip somewhere or maybe a series of just really great date nights -- full priced movies, nice restaurants, maybe a live show or two. I'll take my $1,000 now too thank you very much!

I would expand my garden and build a small green house. Then buy a pressure canner, more jars and a shelving unit to store my goods on.

Additional insulation for my home and a new front door. Does that count?
If not:
New purse - $250
New swim suit - $80
Remaining spent for a week in Mexico at the beach
Oh! And the massage / spa thing. I REALLY need a pedicure.
