How many miles?
I am a very lucky person - I have to drive very little. I wondered how little, so this morning I took the last car mileage I had recorded (from early November when I had routine maintenance done) and today's and checked it out. It averaged to about 250 miles a month. And that's probably a little higher than it actually is now, because that included a month when I still lived 10 miles from work and a couple of months when I was doing a highly unusual amount of non-work driving before, during, and after a move. I knew I wasn't driving much now, but that surprised me.
About how many miles a month do the rest of you drive? I know from reading the posts that it's quite a lot for some of you. You must be dying from the gas prices.Donna

I figure it's about 4,000 for me. Probably just under 1,000 a week.

From the time I filled the car up with gas last Friday after work, til when the light came on this Friday after work, I had right at 300. I usually have anywhere from 320-400 a week, depending on what extra driving I do after work and on weekends, or running errands for work.

Wow. That really is a lot for all of you. I honestly can't imagine having to be in a car long enough to drive that many miles a week. Especially since driving is not something I particularly love to do anyway.

Wow I guess I never thought about it. It only takes me 12 minutes to get to work, so I am guessing my mileage would be low. Grocery store, Walgreens, and Rite Aid are all on my way to and from work, so I really don't do a whole lot of driving.

In the summer, it's maybe 150 miles per month. We go to the library every two weeks, the grocery store 1-2x/month. Plus we live right in town. We are less than 5 miles from our bank, grocery, library, parks, pools, farmer's markets, etc.
Come school time, I have one that will still need to be transported most of the time. That's two miles per day 5x a week on top of our other driving. It will probably double our miles to 300 or more per month.

I probably drive less than 100 miles a month. Almost anything and everything I need is within a 3 mile radius of my home and I work less than a mile from home.

About 170 miles a week for me when I'm working full time in summer. In winter, probably about 90-100. We are in the country so we are ten miles from the bank, library, or a small grocery store. We are 35-40 miles from a large chain store like Kroger or Walmart.
Dh drives much more as his work is 50 miles from home. Right now he's staying with his parents in that town on the days he works to save on gas. Thankfully the price is coming down a good bit(from 4.29 a gallon to 3.80) so maybe he can start coming home now!Last edited by WV_mom_of2; 08-17-2008 at 05:24 PM.

I don't really drive that much. I checked my milage this morning and realized I hadn't reset it since the beginning of June. It had 1200 miles on it, but that included over 700 from our vacation. So the remaining 500 was for half of June, all of July and half of August.

Well, let's see...
~Taking and picking up DD to and from school - 5 miles each trip = 50 miles a week/200 miles a month
~45 mile round trip to/from DS's football practice 4 times per week =180 miles a week/720 miles a month
~15 mile round trip to/from DD's volleyball practice/games 3 times a week = 45 miles a week/180 miles a month
~14 mile round trip to/from work for DH 5 times a week = 70 miles a week/280 miles a month
~Other miscellaneous errands, baseball practices, taking the kids here and there, DH taking me for rides - between 100-150 miles a week/400-600 miles/month
~Every other weekend DH and the kids have 6 yards around town and in the net town over they cut. That is 75 miles round trip twice a month = 150 miles/month
Roughly between 1900 to 2000 miles per month minimum.
There are some weekends DS has football games out of town. We travel an average of 30 miles round trip going to and from his games. If he has a travel baseball tournament on Sundays we travel between 45 miles and 150 miles round trip for those games, too.Last edited by Neeley; 08-17-2008 at 06:48 PM.
