What should I do with the gift card?

Hiya everyone,

So since my b-day is on x-mas, my mom and dad decided this yr to give me gift early. My dad bought me a new go phone (cell) since my old one was dying any day now. From my mom she got me a $150 GC for walmart. So going to give me it Monday. Well, I know someone on a while ago posted asking for ideas on what to with their GC. That kinda what I'm asking too.

Here are some of the ideas I was thinking about today

Seeing I was just thinking about going to Sam's Club and stocking up on the things we buy there every 4month or so. which would put us ahead for 2 or 3 months more. ????

My DH told I should use it on me being that it was for me??? (but I couldn't do this know that we need things for the house.)

Lastly my son starts he first day of school Monday and was thinking I could get him so more thing for school???

Any ideas of suggest would be great and thanks!!

Set aside at least $20 of it to use on yourself. I hate getting money or gift cards as gifts because 99% of the time I use them on groceries, or things for my family.

So, if it was me, I would buy groceries with it, but try to pick a treat out for myself as well.

Thanks, that most likely what I'll do, cuz I know I wouldn't be happy if I just use it on me... LOL maybe I'll get myself some sock or flip flops for next summer.

that is so sweet of them. I would keep 50 for myself and spend a hundred else where.

Absolutely buy something frivolous for yourself. Something you love, but could never justify taking out of the budget ( nice bra, perfume, something girly maybe), and spend the rest on the household items as that seems it would give you pleasure as well!

I would buy something for myself and spend the rest on the household things we need. Or maybe something you need for yourself but just cant justify buying normally. $150 is alot...you can do bunches with that! Just remember to have a little fun....it is your birthday money after all!

I agree with the others, I would buy myself something that I normally wouldn't be able to "splurge" on. Gosh, I got myself new undies the other day when I got the kids' new school supplies, and I felt like a new woman! LOL

I think that's the curse of a mom, we always feel guilty buying ourselves something when the money could always go towards something else...

I got a $50 GC for target for my B-day. I ended up spending it on Health and Beauty products. Those are always the most expensive things for me to buy, so it helped that I basically got a free trip.

:agree: when my parents give me money for my bday, they want to hear that I've spent it on myself, not buying things for other people. I'd spend a bit on myself and use the rest for household purchases.

Treat yourself then buy what the family needs.
Last time my folks gave me a gift card to a store that sales womens clothing because they knew if they gave me cash I would spend it on the family.
