Has anyone heard from jas today?
She lives near me and her neighborhood has flooded from the storm. I am worried about her. Please pray for her.

I haven't, but I sure hope she and her family are ok! Perhaps w/ the flooding they have lost power.

Looking at her profile she was last online in FV on the 19th.
Hope she's just busy with good stuff.~*Darlene*~

Well folks I hate to say this. See, I know the street she lives on, and it's flooded. It has rained all night last night. I'm almost positive her house is wet. So it's either she is in a wet house or they have evacuated.
This storm has been a bigger problem for our area then I thought it would be. It has rained for three days and many streets are flooded all over our county.
Many streets all around her neighborhood are flooded and they had to send in the national guard to evacuate people.
In my mothers area, only a few miles from jas, the sewer system is backed up and people can't use water.

Hello everyone! We made it!! Thanks Ann for keeping people updated! It was a very different day for us yesterday.
I had no idea what had happened overnight. When my husband wasn't leaving for work (I was just getting up) I asked "Are you going in late?" he said " I am not going anywhere, my car is under water!" It had been parked on the street. usually not a problem.
The water was knee deep in our yard and just one house away at the corner it was thigh deep!! People were rafting and canoeing down our street all day!
My dh was on the news and so was our dog, she was swimming in the street. She was literally dog paddling.
Thank the Lord that no water got into our house. Many in the area were not so lucky.
As Ann said the National guard were sent out to get people if they needed to get out. The city came by and gave us sand bags to help keep the water at bay. When people with big trucks would drive by they would leave a wake and then the water would run up into our garage.
Today I have to say the water is down in my yard but, quite a bit of my neiborhood is still underwater.
Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. They worked!
The storm battered us yesterday but, it being so slow moving it is now beating Anns area today! Keep her and her home in your prayers today!
Thanks again!!!

Thank goodness it was just the car!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Yes you have that right! Really most people would be devestated if their car was underwater. I am not saying it isn't a big deal, but let me explain.
My dh is very frugal and is a great mechanic. He drives older cars, and will not think anything about ripping out the carpet and drying the car out the seats will have to come out too.
We eventually pushed the car out of the street and up into the driveway. There was still water in the drive way but about a foot less than the street When the car was in the street, the wake that people made as they drove by made the car float up and down and push more water into the car. That I have to say was a little unsettling to watch. And people thought nothing of it.
We will find out in a little bit if the engine is okay. we are hoping it is. It is not, then forget this post and we will be not happy for sure.

You'll probably need to replace the gaskets and such, but if you got it out of the water and hubby is a good mechanic, i'm sure he'll have her up and running again!

jas, I am so glade to here your home is okay. Last night when I heard about your neighborhood my face went white and I suddenly remembered you lived there. I was like OH NO!
Sucks about the car , but could have been worse.
My house is above street level so we are ok but our drain field is full so we can't flush or anything. Found that out the hard way. Oh well as long as the power and TV stay on we will be fine. LOL
