To Everyone Sending Children back To College
The summer sure has gone by quickly and it is that time again. We have spent the past several weeks making sure dd is moved in and set up for her coming sophmore year at CMU. This year she is going to really be on her own in an apartment with her three room mates. No more dorm, meals prepared, etc. I am really going to stay busy over the next few day's because I am going to miss her like crazy! She will not be coming home again until sometime in October. So I just wanted to offer my support to anyone else who is sending their children off for another year.

Yes, my DS22 is a senior-senior. He is taking a double major, so it is 5 years. He has an apt. (last year w/4 other students, this year all by himself) and took summer classes, so we only saw him 5 days this summer. He has been set up in his apt for awhile, so we didn't go out there. He is at ND (in Indiana) and is pretty self-sufficient now.
Our older son is near Seattle. (We are in MI or Ohio depending on the time of year.) He has just finished up grad school at U. of Wash.
and is looking for a job. Anyone hiring Rocket Scientists? (aero-space engineers). In this economy, they are laying off older, experienced people right when my little-experienced son needs a job. Sigh. I see him coming home to save on expenses if nothing pans out. I would love his company, but I know he wants to work, and get on his own 'for real'.
I miss them. I know what you mean about having to stay busy.______

DD got home from her internship in NY on Tuesday and starts classes today. Her next internship starts next Tuesday, I think. Her class load is fairly light this semester ~ only 3 classes ~ but she has to start thinking about her thesis.

Ds#1 starts back to class at UTD next week. Only 1 more semester till he graduates!! He decided to have get a minor to go along with his major. So 5 years.
He only got to come home for a week in July since he works full time during the summer.
Looks like after he graduates he will be staying up in Dallas for his job.

Hugs to everyone! My DD is starting her junior year at Pitt, main campus, and she moved into her apartment last week (sigh), and my son will be starting his freshman year at Pitt (Johnstown campus), and he moves in on Saturday. I still have a 13 and 15 yr old at home, I don't know what I'll do when the youngest leaves. But, I did tell DD13, that we could spend more quality time together now! LOL! You can imagine the look she gave me!
Bought my new oven 1/08 and loving it!
My recurrent nightmare is there is no such thing as PMS, and this is my real personality.

I have 2 going back to college but I am blessed that they can still live at home and drive there everyday. My husband works just down the street from the college so he is there in case of an emergency. I've still got my chickies in the nest. I'll go nuts when they do move out.
