Gotta hate September Bills!
I planned for things but of course overlooked some.
Aug 31: 1025 - older girls sports
Aug 31: $300 - ds hockey
Oct 31: $400 - girls school fees
Oct 1 : $300 - ds school fees.
Oct 1: $100-300 - team fees.
Then bus passes for 4: 119/mo (better than $150/wk if I drove them)
Dance: 42/mo for little one.
ARGhhh.. Oh well..lol. No wonder the snowball rolls to a stop in the fall.
That said I DID budget all the sports fees, but didn't do school or team fees, totally didn't budget for that. Bus passes and dance are accounted for in the budget. I won't need to use the EF, as there are 2 full months before the last of these are due, I'll just shrink the snowball accordingly to accomodate this.
Need to set up a "working" account for all those fees, and split it up over the year. Then just write out checks as they come due.

I think that's a great idea! The "freedom account" method ... where you look over the whole year of your "unexpected" bills, and then you are able to put aside a certain amount of money every month, so nothing "pops" up and surprises you.
Right now, our freedom account is very small *one of the perks for having a little one not old enough to be in sports* ... and sometimes finding the "extra" money isn't always easy, but it's nice to have a separate checking account to be able to pay my auto renewal with every March ... and not having to worry about it.

heh...the "gotcha" bills that you don't think about until they're here always annoyed me. Yeah, a spiffy little fund for those should do nicely. I actually created an envelope for my license plate renewal fees which hit once a year because I get so annoyed when I have to dish out $250-300 right around my birthday. (today actually).

Well Happy b'day! belated, as it is

Dh, decided he wants to prepay something, inorder to save $125/ year. However, putting that money on that, takes away my snowball for a month! I don't know..lol.
I might concede to one year only. Then we can go hard, and add more years to it next fall.

Don't forget for many the school taxes will be coming due in September.

I have never thought about having another account set up for the extras that come up!! I have a separate savings account set up for our emergency fund, but I never had thought about using another checking account!! It makes sense though!!
