Do you believe in luck?
Sometimes I go through my day hearing people say the most peculiar things. Like today 2 of my co-workers and I were talking about religion. Both of them are non-religious and don't believe, yet an hour later someone sneezed in the room and one of those two says "Bless you".
Then I always hear people say "good luck" or, "I seem to be always having bad luck lately with my finances".
So what do you think? Do you believe in luck? Do you think there's some unseen force controlling your path in life, whether good or bad? Or do you believe in choice and that everything that has happened or will happen in your life is due to choices you've made?

I have always loved the expression "Luck is the meeting place of preparation and opportunity." I don't believe in luck but I do believe in destiny. I believe the opportunities that we are given are gifts that we must be ready to seize. I also believe destiny can be unfulfilled if you miss these opportunities because of poor choices or simply not paying attention. However, even if you miss an opportunity another one will come if you allow it. Don't beat yourself up over missed opportunities and blame it on bad luck... just be ready next time.

Bless you is actually a superstition mired in religion.
The two are often confused. The math never lies, budget in INK!

I do not believe in luck.
I do believe in attitude, having a positive outlook on life in general, and taking personal responsibility.
To me "Bless you" is just a polite response to a sneeze, and comments about luck are also just common everyday conversational sayings that do not necessarily mean a real belief in luck.

No, I don't believe in luck. That seems far too haphazard. I firmly believe in God and that He holds, orders, and directs all things. I also believe that we do things ourselves that have consequences and results.
As far as "Bless you" after a sneeze, I just look at it as one of those "niceities" of life, like saying, "Pardon me."Spiritual:
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." Please... respect life.

I also don't believe in luck, just being ready for what life has to offer you.

I believe that positive people beget positive energy and negative people beget negative energy. I have been told by many people that I am a lucky person and have good karma. Do I believe in luck as you have described it...no. I believe that we make our own luck through the choices we make.
I also think that optimisitic people tend to be happier with what they have than pessimistic people. You can be poor as a church mouse and still be happy. Or you can be as rich as King Midas and be miserable."Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." John Lennon

Don't believe in luck, magical forces, or sky people who bend things according to their will. I did read the bible, and I read my math books in school. I know which one is right more often.

I don't believe in luck or religion, however I say "Bless You" because in our culture it is a nicety that we say when someone sneezes. It doesn't mean that I am sending them a blessing from a godlike figurehead. I do however realize that it comes from a time when getting sick often resulted in death, so if someone sneezed, people did say "bless you" to impart some kind of religious/hopefull blesssing. There are a lot of expressions in our society that started out meaning one thing and have evolved to mean something totally different.

I honestly don't know.
I'm up in the air (undecided) about luck, religion, spirituality, karma, voodoo, hoodoo, and the Loch Ness monster.
j/k, but I really am confused at this point in my life and never expected to be.______

Luck is usually a perchance thing like finding a quarter on the ground.
Other things like getting a raise, good job etc are from my actively doing something or making a choice to make it happen. If something really extraordinary happens it's probably happened because of something I did before like friendly to someone and they pass my name along and bam I have an awesome job op. I think everything you do is a choice and has it's rewards and consequences.~*Darlene*~

Yes, I've had a number of lucky breaks in my life. That's not to say that I don't believe in hard work or making the most of any opportunity. But I would never deny some of the luck (or blessing) that has found me over the years.
