The Interview of the Candidates
I recently watched a recording of Rick Warren's (author of "Purpose Driven Life") interview of Obama and McCain. I was wondering if anyone else caught that? It was aired by CNN - I am sure that Youtube probably has it as well. Some things really intrigued me. One of the candidates was really engaging and the other was much more distant. I didn't know if others who saw it viewed it in the same way.

So I take it that I am the only one who watched?

So here is what intrigued me...
Obama went first and honestly did a really good job doing the political thing of not really answering the question - ya know circling it for awhile. He was articulate etc. but for the most part boring. Even when the went to the "2 shot" while Obama was speaking, Warren was looking at his paper for the next question (cause Obama took forever) or trying to almost interrupt him to go to the next question.
McCain came in and was totally personable. He was short and direct in his answers. He had great "stories" to tell that applied to the question asked. I thought he was funny and pretty charismatic. Warren was always watching McCain as he spoke.
Yes, I am pretty sure that they had all the potential questions ahead of time - Obama even referred to that. But what got me it that the media is always playing up Obama to be the charismatic one and honestly from this interview, I found McCain to be much more engaging.
Did anyone else see it?Last edited by rachelj; 08-29-2008 at 10:17 AM.

I never understood why Rick Warren was supposed to be so great...and what does his opinion/interview have to do with anythiing??? I just hate it when *religious* figures get involved in the election process.....
But no, I didn't see the interview.....won't go searching for it either.Stinkbug

~I hadn't had a chance to watch it until this morning. I found Obama very boring as well but I'm still not sure if that's the real him or if he was just really tired. McCain really impressed me. I particularly liked that he engaged the audience in the discussion. Obama's interview looked more like a studio interview.~

I wish I would have caught it on TV. Do you if there is transcript available online? I would love to see or read it.

I found this http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/16/warren.forum/
Obviously it isn't a "transcript".

In fairness to Obama, it was a conservative forum. He was obviously uncomfortable out of his liberal element. JMHO.
I posted about the saddleback forum in the debates section.
