Well I'm not from TX or Louisiana, we're near the Mississippi gulf coast and for sure, people are preparing well ahead of time just in case. Already can't find things like flashlights, batteries, and such. My husband is working further up in North MS and he grabbed the last generator at Lowes. We have one already but it's not running right, so as much as I hated to spend the money, I know I would about kill for one if we are without electricity for that long again. lol
Anyway, I've got friends right on the coast that say some of the stations are running out of gas already. I think if anyone that lives in TX, Lousiana, Miss, AL or FL needs to be getting on out there and trying to find what they need JUST in case. We learned the hard way last time that you can't have too much bread, water, frozen ice and gas for grills to cook on or charcoal or something!
Anyone else in these areas around FV? I'm curious if it's this crazy in all these places right now or are folks around here just extra jumpy after Katrina ( rightfully so I might add! )Change Jar - 239.00 ~ March 18 , 2006

Let's not forget Mississipians, who are very much in its current projected path. I certainly don't anyone to be affected by this storm, but I am thankful that the current track has changed such that it should not affect us in my area of Alabama after all.

As far north as Shreveport, the most we would get is rain, but we will get many people evacuating from the coast. I was told when I got to work today that a work area was set up downstairs for some of the LSU medical school systems people (I assume that's who it is - they were with us after Katrina) and that if they need more space they will be moving into our smaller computer lab again.
I'm moving and when I went to sign my lease yesterday, I was told the office was getting calls from the New Orleans area looking for apartments.
All we can do at this point is hope for the best, for this one and for the rest of the season. On the NOAA hurricane center map, the storms are stacking up across the Atlantic like planes in a holding pattern.Donna

We are just outside Corpus Christi and don't have plans to evacuate yet, but are keeping an eye on things. I feel bad for our LA and MS neighbors and pray that the storm disappates some before making landfall. This is not what they need right now!!
