Newbie here
Good morning,
Let me first start by thanking you, this is an awesome site with so many nice people helping each other and adding to the information all the time.
I am new to the site but not new to being frugal. I was rasied with a grandmother that had known hard times and her favorite saying was always, "waste not, want not". Funny how those years of hearing that stick with you!
I found this website looking for new ideas to be more frugal than I am. I think we can always learn something new, and I love hearing other peoples ideas and ways of doing things.
The things that interest me here are all the sharing of ideas and ways that help me learn easy or better ways of being frugal. The people here seem very friendly and open to having new people join.
I don't know any of the members here, but hope to change that soon by getting to know them and them getting to know me.
I have three wonderful children, DS 28, DD 19, DD 18. I also watch three other children while their mom and dad work who are like my own children. Girl 13, boy 8, boy 4. I have been married for almost 32 years to a wonderful man that is truly my sweetheart.
We have a ton of pets, and get them doing rescues. We have dogs, cats, house birds, pygmy goats, chickens, pigeons and geese.
I am a SAHM, and have managed to be lucky enough to be home with all my children while they were growing up. We home schooled all of them, and the 2 DD are both in college at this time. I do have a stay at home job now tending children so it has been a great help to us as my husband is completely disabled and our income is fixed leaving no room for an extra's that happen, like a waterheater going out and things like that.
My hobbies are many, I enjoy scrap booking, reading, making cards, picnics in the desert, a small hike but not in to those long ones! I also enjoy being frugal, and have decided it is much easier to do as a hobby than thinking of it as a "have to be" in order to make ends meet. I truly try to think of it as a game, and the more frugal you can be the higher you can score. And the nice thing is no matter how frugal you are.... the real win comes from just trying!
Thank you once again for letting me join, I hope to be able to add some ideas and continue to learn new ways of doing things.
Have a great day,
Patty

and
to FV. Sounds like you have a great way of looking at frugality, and it is something I could certainly learn from. I was using it more as a hobby until recently and it has become a necessity. Thanks for reminding me to try to look at it with new eyes!

Sounds like you've got a lot to offer to the Village yourself. I've learned so many things here. I also like to look at frugality as a game...my hubby thinks I'm crazy!!LOLMandy
