Question How Long Does Wine Last?

Upon my cleaning adventures I have found several bottles of wine. White, Fruit and Red's. Red I know age better with time but what about the white's and fruit's? They're all stored cork side down so the cork stays wet but am unsure how long they're good for.

    Anyone know?

This is a good question!! What about wine that is stored in the fridge?? I have a bottle of wine that isn't open, and has been in my fridge for quite a few months, its not a fancy wine, just the cheap Wild Vines!!

How the heck can you question wine.

I don't know how accurate this is but I went on ask.com and this is one of the answers I found. - http://www.theledger.com/article/200...ate=timeoutart

"The more expensive red wines, kept under the right conditions, can still be good after decades of storage. The mid-range and lower-end wines really do not stand up to this type of aging, but generally you can hold on to them for about six years from the vintage date on the bottle.

White wines should really be consumed within four years of the vintage date. Bottom line is, drink 'em if you've got 'em - that is what they were made for, enjoyment."

Thanks guys - b/c I am not one to enjoy drinking alone or w/o someone to tell tales with over the wine...it stays in the cupboard/rack.

I dusted them off...some of the ARE pretty old but I think I may leave them there for decoration. Not many I know drink wine anymore or are always driving so for some reason I have this mental block in my head....can't open bottle to have 2 glasses b/c then it'd go bad and I'd have to dump it which is a waste...um DUH!!! it's going to have to be dumped if I don't drink it too.

Sometimes....I'm just a wee bit of dunce. Its the self reminding that I do not enjoy hahahahaha.

Are you able to plan some meals around your wine so after you have a glass or 2 you can use it in a beef stew or other type of meal? I've kept wine open in the fridge for a few months after I drink a glass and then use it a little at a time in sauces and other dishes.

I was about to say the same thing. Wine will last as long as it takes you to drink it
