Default Phew No jury duty for me

    THANK GOODNESS!!

I sat in there for hours then they called all the people who were supposed to be there for 1:30pm together and told us to go home the civil matter they were trying to get jurors for had settled.

One of the other ladies was going through a similar situation as mine she had driven an hour the night before to drop off her little one at her parents. Last time she had gotten a waver because she was breast feeding.

I remember when my dad got his jury duty summons...he had been dead for 6 months! Death...now that is one excuse the court can't argue with!

I quess I'm a contrairian. I had jury duty a few weeks ago and was happy. My job treats like military leave. We are pay protected and given the days off. All I had to do was call in each night to see if I needed to report in the morning. I didn't have to go all week, but still got the time off work with pay.

My wife laughed at me about 9 months ago, I called to volunteer. They said no then.

When we lived in Houston if you had a child under a certain age you where able to exempt out of jury duty.
When we moved to the country we found out that you call the day before and there is a recording telling you weather to show up are not.
    Sure makes it nice.

I am glad to hear that you go not have jury duty. You seem to have enough on your plate to handle any more.

if i would have had jury duty ellen would have ended up going to stay with my mom and grandmother and i wouldn't have seen her til the trial was over.

I would have had to keep working nights and go to court during the day because i couldn't afford to take the time off since you only get $12 a day thats not enough to pay my bills.

i guess i'm weird. during the school year i postpone until summer. i get called at least once a year.

in the summer i'm like Horschack in Welcome back Kotter "ooooh oooh pick me! pick me!"

i usually get to the courtroom doors, then the person "plea bargains". i have gotten to the jury selection pool (2-3 days) for a capital murder trial and for an unlawful termination suit. i wasn't selected and got to go home.

    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.
