I'm House Shopping....
~On a whim today I looked up some real estate ads and made an appointment to see a couple of houses. I feel guilty for 'wasting' the realtor's time since I'm only just starting the search. It's pretty unlikely that we'll buy either of these. It took us a year to find this little place 8 years ago. It's just so weird to think of moving. We'd always planned to put an addition on our little 800 sq. ft. rancher but I really don't want to live through a remodel. Any addition would mean tearing off the back of the house and shifting several interior walls to separate the bedrooms from the living areas and we'd still have only 1200 sq ft. The houses I'm going to see are 4 or more bedrooms and in our price range. It's hard to think of leaving our frugal little house. I'm just kinda in a place between excitement and sadness. I guess when I see a house I love I'll be just excited, right?~

I'm sure you will "know" when you walk in to that perfect house. It will just fit you. Don't worry about wasting their time, it's their job and they know it can take a while for a buyer to find the right place. You can browse online too and if you see something you like there have them show it to you. What we did was always drive by the house first to see if we liked the area/looks before we got the realtor to show it to us. There were many that looked perfect online but in person were awful! Good Luck! Think of it as a new, exciting beginning, not about leaving your other house behind!

Good luck on your house hunt!
We moved 7.5 yrs ago took us almost a year before we found the right house.
I went to look at it with the realtor one day while dh was at work.
I walked in and told the realtor this is it!
This is our house.
You will know when its the right house.

It took my DH and I several months to find our first home. We put in offers on 2 other homes even that we thought we liked. When they both fell through we took a break for several weeks from looking because it was so tough on us stress-wise. When we saw the home we currently live in we knew right away that it was better than the others we had looked at, and it was perfect. Good luck with your search, and don't worry about seeing as many houses as you need to until you find the right one for you!

I wouldn't feel guilty at all! We were in a time crunch when we bought our house, so I "settled" for one I was less than in love with, and it's always dug at me. If and when we ever move, I'm going to wait for the house that I love at first sight! Happy househunting!!

Take your time shopping. The realtor will get a nice commission out of the sale, and its his or her job to help you find the RIGHT house - not "the house right now".
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I wish that we would have looked at more houses. We looked at 3 and ended up buying the 1st one we looked at. I still don't care for it much, but the improvements that we are making are making me like it more!!!
