    Default Just Joining from Alabama

    Hello, All.

    I've been looking around for a place to inspire and help me as I try to live more frugal. So far, this place seems to be it.

    I've lived frugal since 1998 (much to my husband's irking) first with guidance from "The Complete Tightwad Gazette" and now from other sources. He was sure we would end up living like hillbillies and I just wanted a better life not always wondering if we could pay all our bills.

    Some things I do to live the frugal life:
    80% of our food is made from scratch - cannot begin to say enough about the health benefits as well as the $$ benefits
    Greg takes his lunch to work -- $150 monthy savings
    Dropped our 2 cell phones and got a 100 prepaid phone -- $700 yearly savings
    Drive a Prius Hybrid AND carpool - we paid $30 for gas which will last two weeks.
    Our cost for crickets (for Greg's hobby) used to be $2000 yearly. I do a trade off with the cricket company (room & board one night each month). My cricket cost last year was $400.
    My clothes budget last year: $65. All garage sell items. This year I did have to buy two new bras and panties but I paid 60% off.

    The list goes on and on but I still want to do better. Hopefully this forum will afford me opportunities to discuss new challenges.

    Crickets as in those little brown/black crawling insects in your basement that chirp.
