Here comes Ike
Looks like we are going to get hit hard.
All the schools and most of the businesses will be closed tomorrow.
Some are closed today.
I live about 100 miles from the coast just outside of Houston and they are saying we can expect winds up to 100 miles per hour.
I love to watch storms come in but I think this one is really going to be one heck of a storm to watch.
Bringing everything in that can end up flying around. Dh is even going to tie down our storage shed.
It should be interesting the next few days.
Everyone in the Texas and surrounding areas stay safe.

Stay safe.

We will probably feel alot of it too - the width of that storm is nearly 500 miles across. Right now its sunny, but later today dh is going to board up the windows & we'll be bringing anything in that would be a potential projectile. I sure hope this is it for this season!

We'll be anxiously awaiting to hear how you fair during this massive storm. Last year we had 100 mph winds where I live and it was amazing that we did not sustain more damage than we did.. I hope the same goes for you...

Stay safe Texasgirl.
My middle DD lives in Friendswood and this will be her first hurricane. She isn't too worried about the storm but the traffic thru Houston has her wondering. She is an RN and is "manditoried" to get to work at her hospital in Houston. She has been warned that it could take 8 hours to make a normal 45 minute commute.Robin

Robin they are probably right about that commute.
When Rita was coming Dh went to work the day before it usually takes him about 35 minutes to a hour to get home from there.
That day it took almost 7 hours.
