Default I just don't GET my hubby...

Okay, I hope you all don't mind a little venting going on here, because I just can't take much more of this!! My dd #2 says to me today "Mom, are we out of money? I mean, are we poor?"...I said, 'No, we are not poor and no we are not out of money"...she then explains that she just doesn't understand why we are always out of food! Well, my dh goes shopping on Sunday for the whole week and he buys only enough food for that week, meaning I have to have every dinner planned out, and breakfast and lunches for the dds (they are homeschooled) but he never buys more than 1 of anything even when it's on sale!! When do they get it?!?! After you have explained to them about a million times? I am fortunate that I am a member of the Gleaner Group in my town, and I am supplied (free of charge) about 200 lbs of flour, 100 lbs of rice, 50 lbs of Progresso bread crumbs, and sometimes oatmeal and powdered sugar...so that helps as I make my own mixes and bake all my own breads, muffins, etc. I think my BRAIN is going to EXPLODE!!

Hehe... no they don't get it. I sure wish we had a gleaner group here!

My husband doesn't understand why we have an 8 foot shelf with all kinds of food, but when he's home alone with the kids does realize it comes in handy to have those things.

Can you take over grocery shopping and build a stockpile? My guy hates to go do groceries, will get ONLY the bare minimum and get out.

We have a rule in our house, if you don't like how it's done, do it yourself.

Sit down and decide what is a fair budget for groceries. Then you work with it. Work the coupons BOGO, etc, and the savings you can tuck away to use on a good sale. Never spend over the budget given, if you have no extra from a previous week, then you don't get extras. Work it between you. I dont' enjoy groceries, I have it down to an art, a week worth of stuff and some stockpile items in and out in 30 minutes. But I build my list according to the store layout. So I don't have to double back.

I say you do the shopping and let him stay home. He probably just figures 1 of everything is more than enough, time to set that man straight, lol

mine's the opposite....if things are on sale he'll buy 10. (which is why I have 5 cases of macaroni in my pantry...we all hate the stuff now...)

My husband is the opposite. When things are on sale, he'll take advantage of a 10 for $10 sale or whatever the sale is on the items we frequently buy. Thankfully for me, we shop together as a family so I have some say on how many items of those sale items he gets. LOL

How about going shopping with him? A 'family' thing? Let each kid pick out just one thing, up to a certain dollar amount.

I usually do the shopping alone, but when dh or dd joins me, I find that I get new ideas, and also find out what they like (without buying something on sale, just to get it home and find out they don't even care for it).

My hubby is pretty good at the store if he has a list. If I just let him go on his own, it will be a cart full of snacks and things that are on sale.

Thank you for the advice...I used to do the shopping and for some reason, now he likes to do it!! (But we don't have ANY stockpile either!) I homeschool the girls and then I teach preschool to a neighbor boy from 9-3 every day, which pays $850.00 per month, so....I am thinkin' you are right and I'll just do it myself and get that pile goin'. THANKS AGAIN~

Oh good, for a minute I thought he was being 'controlling' but just sounds like he's being helpful (or at least trying).
