Pretty amazing. We all think we need so much room to live. Goes to show what you can do with a little. I'm sure they're happy to have the room they do.
My sister and I were talking about that today. It's all about what your used to. No matter what you have, someone else may think it's awful. We should all be grateful for what we have.

Thanks for posting that. It seems the lady in post 16 tried making hers as homey as she could....her bed is even painted. I have to say the guy in post 27 kind of scared me and the man in 93 has so very little and even though he was smiling, he just made me feel so sad.

Is this an apartment building in China?

Yup, small spaces are totally do-able. Sometimes I think it might be easier in a lot of ways... You kinda *can't* let all the clutter build up on you because there's no room... I know a lot of us spend a lot of time and effort just "de-junking" our homes...like the "fall fling challenge".
Funny, almost all of them have TV's, but not all had a refrigerator (at least that I could pick out).
Where is the bathroom???

Darn, I complain about my 13 x 16 bedroom, now I feel super lucky. I can say however, that these people sure do use up every little inch of space.

Wow some of those are so creative. However, I can not imagine living in something like picture #36!

I would think it's a community bathroom. On some of the pictures you can see the hallway door and the entire room.
Some people sure make the best of the situation...

What an amazing perspective and insight into the lives of others. Thanks for posting that link, I"m only part way through the photos but it's incredibly interesting to see all this. The sidebar says this about the photos:
-----
photographs of residents in their flats in hong kong's oldest public housing estate, 100 rooms, each 100 square feet in size
-----
One thing that stuck me about the photos, in addition to the small space, was NO windows!Last edited by Ebbie; 09-12-2008 at 08:41 PM.

This is truly amazing to look at. I thought that I had a problem that I will have to downsize my house when we move back to Chicago. I have nothing to complain about.

Alot of those pictures made me feel so sad. Some of the people looked so alone, taking solace in all the things they could jam into it. others, the state of the room was poor, peeling paint, yet others seemed to love their space and do something with it. It makes me feel a little selfish with my 1600 sqft home, that I sometimes feel is too small.
Total different perspective on life

Thanks for posting the pictures.
They remind me of dorm living in college. They were about that big for two people. We loved them and thought they were great.
The pictures looked like older people was it apartments for older people? edited to say that I saw some children in come pictures but still Some nursing type homes rooms here are not much bigger.Last edited by imagine; 09-13-2008 at 02:36 AM.
