On Line Banking
I was just wondering what your thoughts are on the online banking programs? I have to wonder with some banks offering it as a free service if it wouldn't be a real money saver. No postage, no running to the post office to mail things, no checks to write out or pay for. This is a FREE service at our bank, and I would like to hear how others feel about this service. I really do see it as a great way to save on postage, with the rates going up all the time that would be a real savings in just that alone. They assure me that it is safe to do it this way, that the new way they "scramble" information it is very hard for someone to hack in and get your information. Please let me know what your thoughts and feelings are about on line banking.

I've been using it for about 3 years now and I've never had an issue. I'd rather pay my bills from my bank's website than say the phone company's website. I see doing it this way as a lower risk because the bank already has my account info and I don't have to give that info to the companies I'm paying.

I think online banking mixed with companies allowing online payments has totally changed the way I pay my bills.
I now can keep my checkbook perfectly balanced at all times.
Plus I don't have to worry about any of my payments being lost or late due to mail issues.
My electric bill can even be paid online now.
I think my city trash and city water, are the only 2 not available to pay online. And of course groceries/gas stuff like that/
But I use a debit on those to get an instant update to my banking account online.
I hope you try it and it makes it easer for you too!

I love it. All of my usual monthy bills are either taken out directly or paid through BillPay with my bank. I even send a "check" to my Mom occassionally through it. I haven't bought a box of checks in about two years since I rarely use a "paper" check anymore.

I've been paying my bills online since it was available. I go to the biller's site to pay rather than paying from my bank because it takes several days for a payment to go through from the bank. I'd rather have the record from the people I am paying which shows that I scheduled my payment in case there is a problem. I only have a few bills, though, and they are automated so I don't have to do anything. The only site I go on to pay is my credit card.

I love online banking and the fact that most companies now offer payments online. Such a time saver too! I would never want to have to go back to mailing payments and wasting postage on stamps. Yikes!

I love online banking. I use a combination of automatic payments, company websites and online bank bill pay. I really like being able to go to one website and pay all the bill that I need. I can control when the payments are made. My bank will even send checks to those like the water company that does not use electronic transfer.
Since using bill pay, I have not had a late payment.Julie

I love online banking and bill paying. I hardly ever buy stamps, wont ever need to buy checks again and can check on account daily. I have ING account I am happy with also.
I put all bills/ payments on a credit card that gets rewards, and i check that daily also, in case any info is ever stolen.

I started using online banking years ago, but just started using bill pay. It seems really convenient and you save a stamp. Also check for perks from your bank. We get points for using bill pay and using our bank card as credit instead of debit. It takes awhile to add up to anything but it's a bonus for money we spend anyway.

I can't even imagine paying bills by snail mail. I've used online banking for about a decade, ever since my little credit union decided to set up bill pay for its customers. It has evolved tremendously since then. Once, my automatic deposit (payroll) didn't post correctly, and a bunch of my payments ended up as overdrafts. I got late fees and penalties from the vendors and from the bank. When I went to the bank to find out what happened, they reversed all the overdraft fees AND paid all the late/interest fees to the vendors who didn't accept the bank's apologies!

I'm kinda mixed. Pay by check/snail mail, or online (the quickie way). Sometimes, I don't want the people I owe to get my money any faster than the post office can get it to them (write a check and snail mail it). You just have to allow enough time before the due date for it to get there.

I use online banking, and I really love it. It's actually easier for me to remember to just click over to the website to pay the bill than to find where I stuck the bill, find an envelope if I need one, get a stamp, and take it to the mailbox. I'd rather spend my time and effort on other things. :bee:

It's the only way to go. I've been using Bill Pay through Bank of America for ages. Think of all the postage you would save. On only 1 bill, the postage you save is over $5 a year.

I agree with everyone. I love bill pay. All of my bills are either automatic draft (like electric) or paid with bill pay. As someone said, you can pay anyone - they will mail a physical check. I've never had any problem at all, and I'm so spoiled to the convenience, I would hate to think of going back to doing it any other way.
When I do a new account I always check to be sure the first one arrived and was credited with no glitch (typed a wrong account number, address, whatever when I set it up).
I think you will love it. it is so easy.Donna
