hi from katy. that was a rip snorter of a night. i slept from 9 to 3 am then the eye was passing and i could no longer ignore and roll over.
i have electric power, not sure why. i am tired, and have an adrenaline hangover.
i need a nap, but am awaiting pictures from galveston.
i can say this: if that was a category 2 i don't want to be in a 3,4, or 5.11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.
"i create prosperity, abundance, and savings for me and my household"

Glad you're ok. My cousin lives slightly north of Houston city in The Woodlands. I've been getting text messages from him. He has a tree leaning on his house, but other than that I think everything is fine for now.

Sorry I did not see this so I did a post.
It was one heck of a night.
Made it through with some damage but not to the house to a storage shed. Lost a huge limb out of oak tree it decided to meet the shed.
Lost another oak tree.
I went through Alicia in 83 and Ike was a lot worse then Alicia.
But it was exciting to see. We went from a pink sky that night to all he** breaking loose in just a few hours.
Hope all the other Texas people check in.

Due to IKE making a turn to the east when it got closer to Huntsville, we were spared the hurricane winds. All we saw was some scattered rain showers and maybe 35 mph winds. There was no damage around us - thankfully. My mom who lives up IH-45 had trees down, chairs blown around, shingles blown off the roof, and just minor things like that. The wind also picked up my nieces barrels that she uses for horse barrel racing and threw them into the neighbors pasture. My mom also has no power and will be without power until sometime next week they say.
By looking at the news and seeing all the destruction that IKE brought, I hope that everyone is safe. It doesn't look good. I wonder how much damage was actually caused.~*Michelle*~

Love the rip snorter comment!!
I think my DD would agree with you!! She said from 2 am on there was no sleeping going on. They did loose power at 10:30 pm and has been told 2/3 weeks before it will be back on. The house phone working. Only damage was water being forced into attic vents and stove vents and cabinets. They are trying to figure out how to dry the attic be for mold or mildew starts growning.
Hope everyone is safe.Robin
