Thanks for your comforting replies. I started a round of steroids and antibiotics last night, plus another med. This morning, I still have all the welts and rash, but praise be! it's not itching. Or at least not very much.
Doctor didn't think it was poison ivy or oak. And I've been around that stuff for years and never had a reaction. He was more inclined to think that my body just had a HUGE allergic reaction to the tick bite. However, he said that some areas looked as if it could be Lyme's and he was taking no chances. Hence, the meds and blood test. They were also concerned that the swelling could reach my nose and throat and complicate breathing, or reach my eyes. But so far, that is not a problem.
Thanks again!Spiritual:

Lyme
My son is 7 and had had Lyme last year. We never saw a tick on him, but we live in a heavily wooded area so it's not uncommon to get ticks. He did get the classic bull's eye rash which was a good thing and we got him treated.

I don't know how many of you live in an area where you have animal rights. But if you have ticks in your area and you want a natural and easy way to get rid of most of them a great way to do it is to get some guinea hens. They are without a doubt one of the best ways to rid your yard area of ticks. They take them out fast, and work hard at finding them. For those of you that have never seen guinea hens they are very much like a chicken. Besides being great at keeping ticks away they are very good "watch dog" type birds. They will send the alarm out if anything shows up in your yard. Very easy to raise, to feed and to care for. You only have to keep them locked in your yard for a couple weeks, then you can turn them loose and they stay pretty close by.
Hope your feeling better and the doctor soon has some answers for you on what the rash is. Medline plus has some pictures and information on poison oak, ivy and sumac that might help you to see if the rash looks like any of them. nlm.nih.gov/MEDLINEPLUS/ency/article/000027.htm
Get to feeling better soon, your in my thoughts!

My XDH pulled a deer tick off him some years ago, developed the bulls eye and felt sorta like he had the flu. He FINALLY went to the Doc who put him on an array of meds, he got better and has been fine since. I THINK they caught it early enough to stmap it out. I have not heard of lyme causing a body-wide rash, hope it's just a bad reaction- fingers crossed.
