Forgive Me Father - I Have Sinned........
I confess that I went treasure hunting through my neighbor's junk heap & found a badly needed toybox for Zachary and a laundry basket for myself. They both looked great after I cleaned them up...the toybox even had some toys in it(decent condition, but too old for zach) that I will be passing on to someone else.........I'm sorry - I just happened to be driving by & saw the toybox & it was crying for me to take it home...the temptation was too great!!!LOL.
I can't believe that people would just throw things away that are still in decent shape

I don't consider it a sin to save something from a landfill. Congratulations on your finds, that's awesome.

I agree its no sin. You are helping the environment by recycling!!!! You go for it, if someone is stupid enough to leave perfectly good stuff laying out, its yours!!!

I dont' understand how it's a sin. Was the junk heap out for the trash, or was it in their yard? Nice find, assuming it was the former and you didn't steal.
People here put things out a couple nights before trash pick-up in hopes that someone will take them and use them. I got my bike that way.

I think it pleases your God to see that you are not only getting something for yourself that is useful without spending your money but your are keeping things out of the environment. I wish more people would either buy used to rescue thing from the trash more often.

I always put nice stuff on my curb on NON trash days to give people a chance to grab it and enjoy it. Just because I don't need it doesn't mean someone else doesn't. And I do donate a ton to Goodwill but now I am no long spend happy so I won't have so much to give anymore.
Last week I took a 96 load gain bottle out of my neighbors recycle bin and filled it with homamade liquid laundry soap for my Mama! The math never lies, budget in INK!

It's definitely not a sin, but sinfully wonderful to find great things you can use. Oddly when my son was little we also found one of those large outdoor liittle tykes toy boxes sitting out for trash in perfect condition. You'd be right in thinking I stopped and loaded it up lol. Many congrats on your good finds!
This is what I do as well. I figure if I take some good things from peoples curbs and shop for deals at Goodwill, I can at least return the favor of leaving things out on my curb for folks and donating old clothing and etc. to Goodwill.

DS#2 picked up an XL dog crate for me a couple of years ago. It saved me about $75.00! WTG, DS#2!

Sounds like some great finds!! Good job saving it from the landfill!!

Let's see...for such a "serious" (wink, wink) sin...your penance will be...your favorite candy bar or cookie.

Ann...i had forgot to share - the night before I found the toybox, I was lying in bed & was thinking to myself how badly zach needed a toy box & how expensive they can be...also told myself that I needed another laundry basket. I do consider myself blessed & that God knew my needs before I even asked him for help. When I found both of those items in the same place - I was absolutely speechless
