The Dishwasher Saga is OVER!!!

After 3 long years of not being able to use the dishwasher, I am finally sitting here beaming with pride and displaying a smile that goes ear to ear!
Backstory -- 4 years ago, the dishwasher wouldn't completely drain. After a few months of using an aquarium sized sump pump, we abandoned hope of ever being able to use it again because the water was rising. As soon as we would get it emptied, it would refill. Eventually the word 'dishwasher' was replaced with 'the swamp' or 'the
swamp' if it was particularly nasty smelling.
Fast forward -- I was talking to the complex maintance man and asked him how to go about removing the dishwasher so we can replace it or at least remove it and cap the hose until we can afford to get it replaced.
He followed me in to my kitchen and took a peek under the sink. The drain hose was twisted and down. In a matter of 4 minutes, the hose was disconnected, straightened and hung properly.
The swamp is gone. The dishwasher is running and according to him, I would be insane to replace it because it has a very strong motor. I was told to run it empty about 6 times before I clean it, and then run it once more just to be safe.
I just have to clean under the sink (we had some swamp drops fall on the cabinet) and do a serious disinfecting to the insides.
No more
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Wow. Glad to see that you have it working again. So, you haven't been able to use it for 4 years and it was just because the hose was twisted? That sounds like something that would happen here.

great that its working again. wish we had one. lol, sounds like something my dad would end up doing. he thought he could do the repairs on my mom's place (they are divorced) and hes more a tim allen than bob villa. my mom had a couple of her brothers do some of the stuff and a yr ago had the roof done professionally. theres still a ton of stuff to fix before she can even attempt to sell it.

How funny! This is almost exactly what happened to us a few months ago. We had my brother (who was an apartment maintenance supervisor at the time) come look at it. He rigged the drain hose up under the cabinet so it would drain better and..Wahlah!...it began draining just fine after that. Thank goodness for those apartment maintenance people!
