Newbie in Germany!
Hey everyone! I'm so glad to be here. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks now and have learned a wealth of information.
My name is Lindsey. My husband is in the Army and we just moved to Germany in August (previously Ft. Drum NY). We are both from Florida and love getting to see new places (could do without deployments though
)
We have 2 daughters: LauraClaire, 4 and Caroline, 2 and I plan to home school them and any others that might pop up. I was also home schooled.
We have been debt free for a couple of years now thanks to 2 Dave Ramsey classes. Didn't get it all the first time
But would love to learn new skills on how to save money to invest more in our future!
Debt free thanks to Dave Ramsey!
^scratch that...we have a mortgage now.

Lindsey
glad you decided to join us. I would think it would be fun living in Europe. Let us know if it gives you a different perspective on how to live. I live in upstate NY and the jets from Ft. Drum pass over my house every once in awhile. My husband was in the Army and when he finished he had to go to Ft. Drum for a couple of weeks. That was in the Vietnam era. Thank your husband for all he does to keep us free and having the right to complain.

Welcome Lindsey! We are also Army and we just moved back to the states last year from living overseas for several years. You will love it!! We were stationed in Italy, England and both of us in Saudi Arabia when I was in the Army. My husband spent several extended TDY's in Stuttgart and we would go stay with him in the summer. Anyway - this is a great opportunity for a debt free family living abroad. Now is the time to travel a great discount and increase your retirement contributions. Enjoy your time abroad and make sure and shop on the economy when you can - there are great bargains to be had and unique stuff you just can't find elsewhere!

Welcome!
Where in Germany are you stationed? I've never been stationed there (though a friend was in Giessen) but I did live not to far from the Rammstein airbase in Germany for a year in college.
If you want any tips or info on Germany or food or culture or anything that's not on the air base, let me know. I'd be glad to help (I think they're might be some people from Germany on here too probably who could help).
The country is ABSOLUTELY amazing. My advice is to make sure you get off of the base enough to enjoy the culture of Germany. Might as well take advantage of it while you can!
